I did read the OP.

In my post I did admit some feminists are sexist. Can you admit some feminists are NOT sexist?

I agree... many are against slut shaming.

Chaucer, 1400's I think.  It was a couple more centuries until it was sexualized, if I recall correctly.

No arguments from me, darling.

I embrace my sluthood. That doesnt mean every woman does. Some deny it because of the sting associated with the term.

I have even said to a man "whats wrong, you cant get laid?" but never because a man is debating with me the merits of feminism. Typically its because the man attempted to deride me for embracing exactly what I am... a woman in touch with her sexuality and loving every moment of it.

Nor have I ever once suggested a man was a virgin when I made that comment. Its more about his attitude than his ability or lack of experience.

We have all seen this type of man. He makes a stupid comment, drops what he considers a witty pick up line that shows he is only about the sex, and then when he is rejected, he attacks.

Its often the approach that is derided. Bless their hearts.

Oh nick,

I'm sorry that I haven't been able to help you.

I'm really happy we had this exchange though. I'm going to save this thread as an example.

I hope that you eventually recognise that the way you carry yourself is going to have an impact on how people view you, and that you come to see that if we fail to honestly examine our shortcomings and do something about them we can never grow as people.

Good luck.

NaughtyNick81,

here is a list of links I found for men's rights in Australia.

Men's Wellbeing

Many of the links posted are non profit.
If you contact them and ask I'm sure they would be delighted to have volunteers.

Event wise there is a free introductory night for the Common Ground group on the 14th in February.
It is a little over a half hour away from Redcliffe in Mitchelton.
Maybe you could check it out to see how you can help.

Against "slut shaming" sure, heck I'm against it as a general rule and I keep my girl on a leash. We're a very sexual species, all of us, not just the men. The cultural repression of female sexuality is directly harmful to the health and well being of women. The result i.e. that women are less sexual is directly harmful to our health and well being. So yeah I'm against that kind of shame getting tossed around frequently or lightly and so should you be.

I found this article where a feminist addresses Nick's position to be an interesting read.

“Virgin shaming” is a common accusation leveled at feminists by social conservatives and the religious right. I’ve read countless books and articles about how feminism encourages sexual promiscuity and snubs sexual abstinent women, but much of this literature discusses feminism as a monolith and fails to recognize the distinction between criticizing compulsory abstinence and abstinence by choice. It’s particularly telling that there’s a dearth of citations referring back to feminist writings. Who are these feminists bad-mouthing virgins? Are they scholars or activists? Second-wavers or third-wavers?

Historically speaking, the more radical branches of second-wave feminism even advocated abstinence from heterosexual intercourse, because of the view that women as a systematically oppressed group could not adequately give consent within a patriarchal society. Granted, not everyone takes Andrea Dworkin or separatist feminism seriously, but it’s inaccurate to portray the entire feminist movement as pro-sex across the board. There were very visible and vocal feminists on the fringe who, as a means of political protest, flat-out refused to participate in intercourse. I have yet to encounter contemporary pro-abstinence literature that acknowledges this past.

I’ll grant that contemporary feminism continues to be highly critical of virginity as a patriarchal social construct, but the only time virgins themselves are disparaged is when they expect the rest of society to conform to their beliefs about sex. There is also a tendency to critique “choosing abstinence” as a form of false consciousness, but that’s still a far cry from “virgin shaming”. After exhausting Google scholar, I haven’t found a single piece of feminist writing that explicitly condemns women for choosing to abstain from sex. I have found two articles (one on Bitch and one on Feministing) which discuss whether it’s possible for an abstinent woman to be sex-positive. I think it is.

So is this accusation of “virgin shaming” based on misconceptions? Are there any examples of feminists — academic or otherwise — actively discouraging abstinence? And if not, then where do these accusations come from?
