ScooterTrash -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 12:39:10 PM)

I frequent the boards because I enjoy them, simple as that. Speaking from a virtual standpoint, I like some people but I don't like everyone and I very likely won't win any popularity contests myself. I don't feel compelled to defend anyone, but if I feel they are being misinterpreted, whether they are what I would consider friend or foe, I will attempt to clarify their point, sometimes even if I don’t agree with them. Certainly there are some who I feel don't have a clue and then there are others who I am amazed at their insight....of course there are those who bounce back and forth in this aspect which does keep me somewhat baffled, sometimes upset, but always amused in a strange sort of way. For the most part I feel the forum boards are an open place where opinions can be thrown out into the arena and either chewed into little pieces or taken with a grain of salt and perhaps enlighten someone's outlook on a particular subject. Will we all agree? Never, we will never all agree on anything, but we will at least be aware of the varied concepts that are out there and will be reacting with more knowledge because of it, if the topic comes up again. I honestly believe that the forum boards are an important addition to reference materials and real life discussions. Unlike real-life meetings and discussions, the anonymity of the medium does lower some inhibitions that would normally be present in a real life discussion. Yes, this creates an arena that is more subject to a hostile confrontation, but it does allow some thoughts and ideas that would normally be kept under guard and tucked away, to come out. This I consider to be a good thing, as it broadens our knowledge in ways that other communication couldn't. In a nutshell, I would miss my adversaries as much as my virtual and real life friends here....they all are an integral part of the forum boards. As to whether my situation or what I do or do not seek affect my responses?...I'm sure there is an influence but I don't feel it dramatically changes anything. I am representing myself when I post, I post my honest opinion and if my posts are a reflection of who I am, so be it.

CrappyDom -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 12:41:02 PM)

I enjoy the debate here because while nobody but me gets it right, many here do have the ability to make me examine and reexamine my thoughts and opinions.

I am also looking for play partners and when one arrives with the wisdom to see the greatness and depth contained in my posts, they contact me and I get to add another notch on my belt.

Not only does Thorns read my posts.....He always encourages me to speak my mind (or type, in this case).  If i post something that He finds is not what He would find desireable, He has no problem in telling me to correct it.

HisTicia -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 1:46:26 PM)

I am here because I have learned..and keep learning so much from everyone.  I didn't say I agreed..but I for sure have learned.  I enjoy that I can say what I think...and not really have to worry too much about what anyone thinks.. most are pretty open and accepting.  I enjoy when I make a post..all of the advice..and the help that I get..that ppl would actually take the time to think out answers to something I ask..really means a lot to me.

I don't like to argue..not at all..but if I am passionate about something.. or I say something.. I have no problem with standing behind it.  I don't ask anyone to agree..but I do hate cheap shots..at that point ppl are usually just grasping at straws..and I just don't much mess with it anymore.

I don't search out certain ppl..but I do have ones that I watch for..and recognize.  I usually know who will be amusing..thoughtful..make a joke of it.. a crass remark..or just be humorous in general.  That is one thing I love..that even though they are names on the screen..in some small way.. I do feel like I know them..and consider them "friends".

I am actually not sure if Sir reads anything that I write.. not unless I direct Him to it.  One of the things He loves about me is my passion..so as long as I am keeping myself respectful...and not bashing ppl.. I don't see that He would ever have a problem with it.  I never ask Him to come and bail me out..if I get into something.. I should keep my mouth shut unless I can handle the backlash that comes with it.  If I may be unsure of how to answer..or want His opinion about something.. I will ask..but that has only happened once.

Actually, I don't think I ever thought of anyone judging me by this when I wasn't owned.  I guess if they want to they can.. cause it is me..and all of my thoughts..be they good or bad.  It's actually fine with me.. because it's best they know what they are getting into with me.. I pretty much say what I think..and don't consider myself a doormat for anyone.

Proprietrix -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 1:46:42 PM)

I don’t really see myself as a person who does a lot of flaming and bashing online. Although I’m sure I sometimes come across that way to others.

I’ll offer a viewpoint that I know the general public doesn’t agree with.
I’ll remove the veils and masks that people wrap up their questions in so I can get to the root of what they’re really asking.
I also don’t hesitate to step up to the plate to defend the underdog, and sometimes that means knocking the bully down a few notches.
And I often state the blatant truth without sugarcoating it.

But rarely do I just insult for the sake of bashing someone. If that was my goal, I have a few people in my life who crave humiliation.

In general, I am someone who really looks more at the post than the person posting. I might defend you vehemently in thread #5, but later on thread #17, you might be the one I see as the bully.

My posts are usually the honest truth that’s running through my head. I don’t make posts with an ulterior motive of pleasing certain people, or attracting certain people. I haven’t really made any friends here to speak of, so there’s no one in particular I feel compelled to defend based on our level of rapport. I can’t think of one single person on collarme whom I consistently trade emails with for more than about a week.

I don’t really give much of a flying shit if what I say is impressing a potential partner. I kind of feel like, if someone really is a potential partner, they will be interested in me for what I really am. That includes my no holds barred approach, my frank honesty, and my occasional cynicism and sarcastic streak.
For those who may be interested in me, I think it would be very beneficial for them to read my posts here. They would learn a lot about me by doing so.

If I have enemies here, they are so insignificant to me, that I don’t even realize they are my enemies. I really have not one ounce of a clue who might have me blocked, who hates me, or who skips my posts. Not only do I not know, but I frankly don’t care. I’m guessing any enemies I might have here (if I do indeed have any) think about me a hell of a lot more than I think about them.

Even the people here I dislike, really hold very little significance to me. If someone starts grating at my nerves, I block them. I usually clear my block list every week or two. I’ve noticed, that for the most part, people who landed on my block list, have altogether quit posting by the time I remove them.
As I’ve said before, the day I lose even one wink of sleep over something that happened online, is the day I spent way too much time on the computer.

I enjoy communication.  Forums allow me to be involved in subjects while I'm busy doing other things, its convenient that way. Also as a means to share myself with Master, who is deaf, he gets to hear me interact on subjects that interest me.

quote:

I don't set out to try and foil anyone. If something is particularly negative, I usually just skim over it.

quote:

Are there particular individuals you like to argue with? Beloved dire enemies you would sorely miss if they were gone?

No, don't get into arguement for the sake of arguement. It really does take a lot to rock my boat, so to form enemies on a chatboard would be difficult for me to do.

quote:

Do you have dear friends, fellow posters you always look for? That you rush to defend?

I don't have any dear friends here, but over time, there are some posters whose opinions I respect, so I might look out for their posts. Wouldnt defend a friend just for the sake of friendship, would rather step back and see whats valid for a particular situation.

quote:

If in a relationship or looking for one I want to ask HOW? How and to what degree does that fact color your posts?

I do always write with Master in mind as part of my reason to be here is so he can hear me.

quote:

Subs/slaves do your owners moderate your posts or not? Do you feel free to come here and state your thoughts freely as long as you bring no dishonor to your owners?

I feel pretty free to post whatever is on my mind, I am aware of guidelines that Master would expect of me though. Master reads all my posts and will give me his opinion on what's being spoken about from time to time. A couple of times, he has told me to let a subject go, or has told me to respond to someone cause I've missed or misunderstood something a particular person has said.

Because it's entertaining at times and other times it's a growth experience of thought.  Still other times it feels good to help someone improve on their own situation of life.

nay.... I not particular to who I am prepared to argue with.... I am an equal opportunity Asshole towards anyone.

quote:

Well.. I wouldn't call anyone here specifically as friends. Besides well my two girls and denika.  I would not needless rush to defend them.... since they can handle themselves.  I would give my support more often than not privately.  But, I do respond to anyone that I think is being unjustly attacked for the thoughts they shared.  Of course I don't respond to it every time... My white horse gets tired of running from battle to battle.

quote:

My experiences always have an impact on my posts.  Be they in a relationship or not.

quote:

Masters and Mistresses, Doms and Dommes are you comfortable stating your credo here knowing it is being viewed by those you own or may potentially own, not to mention the reviews by your peers?

Um I have no Peers  *G*  but everyone could benefit from what I have to share... so I share to make the world a better place *G*

seriously thou... I don't really concern myself of what others of no significance think of me or my thoughts from a negative context.  I look to learn and improve them... some have cause me to grow and consider new thoughts... most have not.   It's a question of approach and knowledge in how a person expresses their informed opinions.  I am not much for individuals that share an opinion like they use their toilet paper while on the throne.

MsKatHouston -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 2:14:40 PM)

I am here to get differing opinions that may either solidify my own views on a subject or make me re examine my views.  I also may very well give someone the same opportunity.  I try not to flame and though there are some posts I simply roll my eyes at, those are the ones I typically stay away from.  Ya know, if you don't have anything nice to say...

Finally, I work ungodly hours.  It's a nice diversion occasionally before I get back to the grind.

APerfectParadox -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 2:29:27 PM)

I came to the boards mostly to learn as i don't have alot of experince in the lifestyle. Alot of what i read is thought provoking ad helps me gain understanding of what being a submissive means to me.Other posts clarify  viewpoints so diferent from my own that  without these boards i could never fathom them. I take with me only what is meaningful to me and leave the rest. I am still seeking and although i don't really think in terms of that when i am posting , if there is someone i am i nterested in  I always check to see if they have posted and would hope they do the same.  Even when they have not topics from the message board generally find their way into my one-on-one conversations with them .Although I have yet to make any friends here , I certainly have favorite posters that I  respect and admire. I  enjoy reading their responses no matter what the topic of the day .

Tikkiee -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 3:34:07 PM)

I am here solely for the forums. Why do I come to the forums? Because I enjoy seeing what others have to say. I may not agree with them, but that's ok; it still makes for interesting conversation.
Do I rush to defend others. Absolutly not. As already mentioned, they can take care of themselves.
Do I have friends here? Absolutly. Every single one I know in RL. But I would not rush to defend them either. They take a stance on something, they can defend their own position. They don't need me to do it for them.

As for the threads that tend to become bash fests...I leave them alone for the most part. Those who feel the need to impose their ideas or ideals on others are not worth wasting my time on.
