I can find no better place to discuss and discribe in graphic detail my latest Fartoric Experiments.....

thetammyjo -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 3:38:35 PM)

This site sort of makes up for losing two communities I had -- one meatlife and another online.

For some reason our email provider stopped allowed newsgroups and I lost two newsgroups I had been on since 1991.

Our local community got torn apart almost a year and a half ago but some folks who instead of forming a new group decided to try and trask an existing student group that had been kind enough for years to allow now university people to participate at all levels. The result is a huge gap and probably a return to small private parties where the clueless lead the clueless and refuse to go beyond their insular little group. Gee, guess I'm still pissed about, huh?

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 4:14:40 PM)

I come here to speak my mind and hear what others have to say on a wide variety of topics.  I may not agree with them, and they may not agree with me, but that just adds spice to the soup.  I don't go to munches, as I'm not really one for hanging out with a bunch of people I don't know, so I find the forums to be a great way to discuss the lifestyle, or just everyday life.  Other than with a few select friends and my husband, the forums are the only place I discuss the lifestyle.  I enjoy the comradery, the controversy, and the comedy of these boards.  And to be quite honest, it's a good time filler and a tiny bit of an addiction.

Shayna -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 4:35:49 PM)

Many reasons: I've moved around a lot as an adult and have friends all over the country, so finding community on line is comfortable to me; it's how I keep in touch with friends. The issues covered on this board are really quite diverse which is intellectually stimulating. Many posters are bright, interesting people and I like reading the different opinions. I live alone and there are times, particularly when I'm burned out from work, that I want to interact with others but in a mediated format because I really don't feel like getting dressed, leaving the house or blabbing on the phone.

I'm also particularly fascinated by conversations regarding sexuality, gender, identity, eroticism and kinks of all kinds.

I enjoy the debate here because while nobody but me gets it right, many here do have the ability to make me examine and reexamine my thoughts and opinions.

I am also looking for play partners and when one arrives with the wisdom to see the greatness and depth contained in my posts, they contact me and I get to add another notch on my belt.

See^...that's what I'm talking about... how can you not just love to debate that sort of thing????

edited to add... I think you're wrong btw... We get it, we just don't care.

  Here is some actual wisdom.

I come for a lot of reasons; to redirect some poison that is building in my mind and attitude, to be a wise-ass and to expand my understanding of these bizarre things I enjoy doing.  And because it's free of course.

Calandra -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 5:30:52 PM)

I have several answers:
1.) I am very aware that new people find this lifestyle every day, and I hope that when I share my journey and knowledge with them, (along with so many others) that they will see
          * All the wonderful CHOICES they have.
          * That they are not alone with their kink.
          * The inherent dangers they face as they explore.
          * The tools available to keep them safe.
I don't claim to know it all, but I do proudly share every bit of knowledge that I learned the hard way, or got from some one who felt the need to share it with me. I hope that My wisdom, added to all the other people's wisdom found here will in some small way give back to this lifestyle I love.

2.) I am recently disabled and though I cannot work at the moment, I can come here and find company, laughter, and a feeling that I am being useful in a small way.

3.) I am happily in a polyamorous family, but I seek friendships, and perhaps someone who is searching for a warm, caring, wonderful family too.

I could go on a while longer...... LOL

TemptingNviceSub -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 6:05:07 PM)

Humm...well I come here because I so enjoy the diversity I run across. The passion someone feels when they post.I enjoy the personalities, the good and the bad.I have laughed from some posts and I have become enthralled by the information I have obtained,I have cried over someones heartche, and of course I have become angered at times.(not quite perfect yet!..grin[:D])All in all..I relate all who come here in some ways as one big dysfunctional family!..(not mine of course!heh)ok ok..watch the flames...I want my red butt to have come from a good place....be well...Tempting

bignipples2share -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 6:42:37 PM)

Okay, I admit, I'm enthralled by many of the posters here. The eloquence in which they word things is wonderful. I also like to read many that don't write as eloquently. I just like what they have to say. I don't look for anyone in particular, nor do I avoid any posts, just topics that I don't think interest me. I've gained new insight on some things, some I just think about and then reject, but I do like the thinking and rethinking part <smile>. I don't think about what others are going to think, or say of my posts. I read alot of the posts, comment on a few of them. Usually someone has already said it and much better than I could have anyway. I really like the ping pong effect I get from some of the debates, I sit back and read and it's 'ooooo I hadn't even thought of that', or good point, then another person comes up with another perspective...it's awesome, so much more than anything that can be read just on the web!

quietkitten -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 6:58:49 PM)

I come here because no matter where else I go I never feel the cameraderie that I feel here.. I know... it sounds nutty, but seriously, where else could so many incredibly different people join each other in a forum and not cybermurder each other??
I (used to) belong to several other forums and none of them feel like home to me like this nutfarm does :)
---- on an aside note---- it has been a little while since I have been here... imagine my surprise when I logged in to see 9754 messages posted since my last visit!!

I think I'll skip a few...[:D]

ExistentialSteel -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 7:01:55 PM)

Because there is excitement where Doms and subs hang out together.

ownedgirlie -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 7:32:36 PM)

Great thread, twicehappy, and I really enjoyed reading the replies. A few made me laugh out loud and some others had me nodding in agreement.

WHY?

I was thrilled when I discovered this site and found actual conversations taking place about actual BDSM, D/s and M/s.  I said in one of my first posts that I am a chatroom refugee.  Finding CM was refreshing.  I have learned a lot here just by being exposed and open to so many different opinions.  Some I agree with, some I do not, and some I have come to understand in time.  Prior to coming here I felt like I was on an island, because I had little exposure to anyone who lives a D/s life, other than a very small circle of close Dominant and submissive friends.  Being exposed to so many points of view have caused me to rethink previous paradigms, and to understand my Master and my slavery to him in new ways.

quote:

Are there particular individuals you like to argue with? Beloved dire enemies you would sorely miss if they were gone?

No and no.  I see no benefit to having enemies, and I am an enemy to no one.  If I disagree with someone, even passionately, I try to speak to the topic, not the person.  If I think someone is being an idiot, I am not going to say, "You're an idiot," I am going to disagree with what they posted.  I would feel I was being rude, otherwise.  Not to say I am always successful at such attempts, but my goal is to be respectful, always, even if I don't respect the one I am speaking to.
quote:

Do you have dear friends, fellow posters you always look for? That you rush to defend?

There are a couple people here whom I would consider a friend.  And there are some posters whose posts I typically find enjoyable or insightful. If I don't have a lot of time, I would likely read their posts over others, and then get back to others if the thread is interesting.  I don't rush to defend anyone.  We're all adults here.  However, if I have an opinion which happens to be in defense of someone or what someone has said, I might post it.

quote:

If in a relationship or looking for one I want to ask HOW? How and to what degree does that fact color your posts?

My posts are fashioned to express my opinion.  Nothing more, nothing less.

quote:

Subs/slaves do your owners moderate your posts or not? Do you feel free to come here and state your thoughts freely as long as you bring no dishonor to your owners?

He does not moderate my posts.  I am free to state my thoughts as I wish.  He knows my views and opinions and trusts me to conduct myself in public - here or anywhere else. He does not read the forums, as discussion boards aren't his thing and he has so little free time, but there have been times I have emailed him something I posted because I wanted to share that thought with him.   On very rare occasion I have sent him a thread to ask his opinion (I did that just a couple times when I first came here). For the most part, we don't discuss CM.

SweetSarijane -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 7:36:01 PM)

I come here because I enjoy the hell out of reading all the various viewpoints on questions asked. I learn things all the time. I love the hilarity, the comraderie, sense of family. I enjoy the debates. If I have something to add somewhere, feel led to comment, feel maybe I can say something that might help someone, I do, and sometimes I just like acknowledging something that made me laugh, that made my day better, or that made me think. I'm addicted.

mastersayed -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 7:39:26 PM)

its good clean fun (ok it can get a little dirty), its addictive, and you learn new things.

sskitten -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 8:36:30 PM)

I came looking for insight and community.  I have learned a lot from reading here.  I do not like to argue but I like to speak up about issues I care about, and any issue worth caring about will have more than one perspective worth defending, of course, so there is inevitably going to be some clashing of strong-minded folks here.  I don't mind that at all when ideas are shared respectfully.

I feel free to come here and state my thoughts, but I am not as free as some of you.  My Dom asked me to stop posting on a thread I started (except for signing off).  He made that decision before visiting the thread, based on my reactions to it.  He is here to protect me even when I take risks.

Frankly, I do not feel comfortable posting here any more and will probably do so only rarely.

Gosh, Tammyjo, that sounds an awful lot like what happened up at this end of the state about a year ago.  And I've made pretty much the same comments about a few of those small, private parties.

Anyway... I'm here for the pizza.  And I'm here for lively conversation that isn't rose-tinted, touchy-feely, PC bullshit.  I don't however, see the "constant bickering" some people claim to see here.  I see strong opinions, and the occasional disagreement, but these are not always bad things.  Conflict is not always negative.  I'm afraid there are many people who need to learn this.

MistressLorelei -> RE: Why are we on the CM boards? (6/18/2006 8:43:06 PM)

I love to write, especially about things I am passionate about, so these forums give me the opportunity to do just that.  I also devour information and enjoy reading the various ideas and viewpoints of others on some topics, and not others.  I especially like reading the views of several I usually agree with, and several I rarely agree with.  People who write passionately and intelligently are a good read no matter the viewpoint.

I answer every thread  I post to with complete honesty, and try to ensure that "Me" goes into everything I write.  I don't write to please anyone, or to argue with anyone.... my opinion is my opinion, and I if I didn't think it was a valid opinion, I wouldn't have it.  I don't expect everyone to agree with it, just respect that I have one, and I will do the same.   Debate doesn't have to equal 'rip each other to shreds', though we all have our moments.

I like that others I have gotten to know read what I write... I have directed others to these forums for that reason.  The more someone I would become involved with knows about me, the better off we will both be.  I would write the same way whether I was involved with a submissive from this site, or not.
