I'd give credence to complaints of favoritism if there were examples of how Poster B created a ticket because Poster A said "you are stupid" and I thanked Poster B for his report and did nothing but later sent Poster B a gold letter when he subsequently said to Poster A "you are stupid."

(I'm throwing the "created a ticket" clause in there because we don't read every post, so the mere existence of a post is not an indicator of favoritism.)

Thanks, but how can we possibly know you're telling the truth when you say that's not happening? Neither side of the "moderation" argument has proven their claims.

It's totally inconsistent, in how the "rules," get applied.

Prove it.

The only other site I've ever been on that had anything similar.......chat/message boards...... had so little moderation you literally had to seriously threaten a person's life to have a problem or get a message. The way shit was handled, if a poster was so offensive you couldn't stand reading their shit, you put them on hide/ignore/whatever it was called.
The offensive person would just end up talking to themselves and give up, disappearing. Usually never to be seen/heard from, again.

I'm torn. On one hand I use the [hide] button myself to clean out the posters which annoy me. On the other hand, when there is sufficient density of those my forums start being one hidden thread poster after another and I leave. I'm content with the moderation as is although I also disagree with it from time to time. I just don't actually believe you could make ANY moderation that I wouldn't disagree with from time to time unless it was me doing the moderating. Then everyone else would disagree periodically.

Like Chi, I prefer "civil discourse". I also understand that there are no commonly accepted rules for what that means so there's going to be grey areas and occasionally I disagree.

Chi just posted on this thread, saying "post #3 has been removed". I was going to reply saying "what made you change your mind?", but I can't. Chi's post is now gone.

I just talked to someone who claims he reported that post, and Chi told him there was nothing wrong with it.

The one Rich indicated?

metamorfosis -> RE: Sorry, the truth is not a defense to personal attacks. (1/7/2013 12:21:41 AM)

Yes. Someone reported it at the time, and (apparently) Chi told this person that there was nothing wrong with it.

Its still there.

I didn't view the thread in question after Chi said it was pulled. I can't say that it ever was pulled. But I know I saw Chi say it was, on this thread.

the thread that Heretic posted is still there with what i would consider to be a 'personal attack' under this sites rules. now i don't have a problem with what has been said in that thread, so i'm not making a complaint of that. however, it does highlight what i have been saying all along. either we are adults and can say things as needed, or we ALL get babysat, and everything is removed. i'm guessing from what i have read that post 3 is actually well earned, but the fact that it is still there shows a huge inconsistancy in moderation.

i checked that thread out when Heretic posted it two days ago. as the mod's have been watching this thread i am very surprised to see the posts still there. i mean if we are allowed to tell people to fuck off then groovy. i wish i'd known that before.

Then it must have been pulled and then replaced. Not a federal crime, but still, a little odd.

Me too! Not wanting to get mod slapped is the only thing that keeps me from doing so. [8D]

But hey, if it stays and we're allowed to.....hoo boy! The fun is back!

( 1) im sure things are taken on their own merits
(2) mistakes are made its human
(3) all this" he said she said " and "mummmm hes got more peas than me "! fussing ..
.Do we as adults really need it ?
(4) the job of a mod is a complex one and they get little thanks for it.. personally i think to keep some of the truly nasty individuals silent and stop genuine sustained hate campaigns against people is more important than leaving the occasional flaming...

Lucylastic -> RE: Sorry, the truth is not a defense to personal attacks. (1/7/2013 4:08:45 AM)

Maybe because he had a lot more to say than merely fuck you?
Should mine have been removed, most probably.

I had just read the article, I had just posted it, and nick came up with his pathetic post, it was 10.30 at night, I was in my jammies, and almost ready for bed. I was tired, I was cranky, and I had no patience to formulate a scathing response yet a non violation. Im not looking for an excuse for my words, just tellin it like it was as the time.
Then along came other responses, makng it basically about me. Nicks response, Riches comment about me not being {awaiting moderation} not about the post being pulled but having me mod slapped. I wrote to Rich, he wrote me back, I went to bed.

He posted four messages regarding me being "favourited" on different topics then he wrote the post to Chi.
Ive seen more scathing attacks(not only by myself) in introductions actually in ALL of the sub fora, than that simple fuck off made by myself. It doesnt make me right, but..the "personal attacks" against me are not something I have whined about until now.
He claimed it was not about me, but moderation.. did he have a point? maybe, but he used me ONLY to make his point.
is that a personal attack? your call, your opinion. I for one am not losing any sleep over it.

Lucy, I dont think EITHER of yours or his should be removed.

Level -> RE: Sorry, the truth is not a defense to personal attacks. (1/7/2013 4:33:49 AM)

No, good lady, you didnt, I was just clarifying.

I probably would have told nick the same thing lol... I doubt if eithet he or Chi are damaged by such comments; we're grown ups, and should be able to shrug off the occasional bit of rough and tumble. The racial slurs, kid pics, direct threats of violence, those are more valid reasons to me than just vigorous verbal back and forths, in terms of mod action.
