For those who are unsure if they have reported anyone, go to the upper right hand corner and click on ticket list.

I have made a number of reports.

Ohhh . . . good tip. Thank you. Nothing on my ticket list.

Nothing on mine either.

When you average a gold letter once every several months and then recieve a dozen or more in a week because "There's a new sherriff in town" you tend to pay tenshun.

.. (gasp!) .. really that many gold letters?? oh my.. you must be one of those "bad boys" my mama warned me about..

Of course there needs to be consistancy.. and everyone needs to know what is and what isnt allowed.. but the "clever" types seem to find ways around the rules.. I wont be someone's online punching bag so I dont reply to people that feel the need to throw insults & be abusive.. I feel sorry for anyone that is goaded into that tit-for-tat insult game.. and it ticks those "clever" types off much more if you just walk away and refuse to play their game..

lol I see those "clever" types that are careful in their wording to incite others (with their indirect insults) but avoid being moderated the same way you see the deliberately slow driver.. Those are the ones, imo, that love the power to be able to do that without consequences to themselves.. Hitting the report button does no good if the TOS have technically not been violated.. since the effect of reporting is impotent, the only defence is to do the same and insult them indirectly, creating a hostile online enviroment.. Being an adult also means not resorting to insulting someone else, even indirectly.. there is really no need for that (no matter how "heated").. jmo

In the past i have deliberately keep on disagreeing with someone who does the indirect insult thing, just to bug the ass off that person.. lol She wasnt smart enough to figure that out..

Reporting post doesn't seem to have any consequence. But add on to that the fact that they seem to be making rules up as they go along. When rules aren't consistant, they are useless.

I reported blacksword404 to the department of homeland security since he is clearly an alien who was sent here to spy on humanity.

Not on this site but another when they posted child pornography. Another back when my son was 13. In one conversation about kids I had said I had a 13 year old son and this guy kept PMing me so he could chat with my son. I did not report him as much as I copied his repeated requests and sent them on to a moderator for them to decide if the guy was out of line.

I am an arachnophobe, a rather high-alarm one, and I received a rather frightening shock when I came on one day and the profile that popped up had a picture of a large, in your face tarantula. I damn near chucked my laptop across the room in fight or flight reaction, and I had to take several minutes to calm down after the shock.

I proceeded to contact the person, and explained what had happened, and very respectfully asked/suggested that they please change the picture - not just for my sake, but for anyone else that happened to be surprised by it that happened to be an arachnophobe, or even worse, that happened to be such with a heart condition.

I was responded to with a very flippant attitude that they were glad to see that they had a form of control over me, that they had frightened me, and that it had made their day. This is a highly irresponsible attitude to have, and seeing no other recourse I reported them for the picture.

What I was told was that I could simply use the Hide User function so I could not see the giant tarantula, but that solution doesn't prevent the picture from doing the same to someone else. Now the chances of someone seeing this picture that is a high alarm arachnophobe that also has a heart condition is rather low, but if it were to occur then none of us would ever know, as the person would likely pass away at their computer as a silent victim.

Personally I have a problem with anyone continuing to pose such a problem especially after they have been made aware that their actions could cause a serious detriment to someone else. Such an attitude shows a complete lack of regard for others, and a lack of morals and ethics in my opinion.

The problem is that no matter what someone puts as a primary photo, I can about guarantee that there is someone somewhere who is deathly afraid of it.
The Block was probably a good suggestion.
I sympathize with your problem but you can't expect the entire world to change because of your phobias.

I don't expect the world to change on account of my phobia, but it makes me wonder about the nature of someone with no regard for others. Arachnophobia is a very common phobia, and tends to produce very strong reactions in those who suffer from it. By comparison, the fact that unaware users will see that photo with no warning is comparable to forcefeeding a diabetic a candy cane, no, a whole bag of sugar.

For instance, I have read the Hobbit, and am very aware of the giant spiders in Mirkwood - yet I chose to see the movie because I was aware of what was coming, and was able to prepare myself for it. The same with Shelob in LotR, and Aragog and his brood in HP:Chamber of Secrets. But for the picture to pop up without warning is comparable to surprising someone by dropping such a thing in their lap.

Emeraldgryphon, just as a warning to you right here, PLEASE do NOT go to the thread called TRAINWRECK over in polls and random snippets ... it has several HUMUNGOUS spider pics there all over the place.
