you can imagine how distracting this can be for me.

I have the solution for you: A number of decades ago there were advertisements in the comics for glasses that enabled one to see other people naked; i.e. without clothes. Unfortunately, I could never afford to buy these marvelous glasses. [:o]

However, perchance you can buy one either new or - if no longer for sale - acquire one second hand in a garage sale. If you can get one, then wear them to work and you will only see nude feet instead of shoed feet. [8D]

You are perceptive. Well done!

Why do we feel that a woman's foot is more attractive in an inclined position?

They appear to lengthen the legs, and long legs are a secondary sexual characteristic. (Children have relatively short legs.)

ORIGINAL: TreasureKY
If it was because the human foot was simply more attractive that way, then why are men not shod in high heels for fashion's sake?

That would be impractical when working or when fighting. Actually that is a good question. I do not know the answer.

Okay... I'm going to stray from the usual response here. Please understand that I'm voicing my own opinion based on my own reasoning. It may or may not jibe with others perceptions and I'm open to ideas that I've not considered, but essentially I think I've got a valid picture.

I think women wear "fuck me" shoes, high heels, designer clothing, jewelry, and any other fashion item specifically because of the sexual response they generate.

Now they may not be consciously doing so; they may not be wanting to specifically elicit reactions; they may, in fact, loathe the idea of being perceived in a sexual manner... however, I do believe that their perception of what is attractive is formed around what will attract a sexual partner. I mean, seriously... that is what "attractive" means, does it not? What else are you trying to attract? Flys?

Think about it... what makes something attractive? Why do we feel that a woman's foot is more attractive in an inclined position? If it was because the human foot was simply more attractive that way, then why are men not shod in high heels for fashion's sake? <snip>

100% this ^^^^^.

Yesterday at work, i saw a lady, talking to two men, wearing 6" heels, and a tight dress that literally was 2 inches from the bottom of her ass... her ass by the way was about halfway to kim khardashians status... perfect ass... how can anyone take here seriously lol... she had to be some sort of assistant because that is a flat out distraction.

I wear my shoes because I like them and not to impress men.

BINGO!!!

I forgot to mention that if you can't take your eyes off of women's shoes, you might have a disability protected under state and/or federal law. Talk to your employer about an accommodation. Maybe they can move your desk to the basement, or you can wear one of those animal cone things so that you can't see the floor.

I bought these today - it has nothing to do with the topic but I like them so there

You sound kind of offended. Maybe it wasn't a good choice of outfit for work, but people are allowed to wear whatever they like by law and then whatever their place of work wishes. Someone thought she looked fine or she'd have been asked to leave and change. Someone took her seriously enough to give her a job, and then have her represent the company by talking to whoever she was talking to.

There are all kinds of distractions out in the world. Honestly I think policemen should be forced to wear something else, they're a distraction in those cute blue uniforms and it bothers me to distraction. How unfair. I think they're doing it on purpose to torture women like me. They must know how those perky little buns moving underneath the uniform pants look!

That sounds like an awesome Twilight Zone like twist. A guy with a HUGE shoe fetish gets his dream job at a place where all the women are totally ok with his fetish because they have a fetish too, and they all wear the most sexy, sensual, erotic fuck me high heels and they are all gorgeous. Then he finds out that all of them have a fetish for men who wear animal cone things on their head so he can't look down.

The world is full of sexual triggers, it's like the discussion on phobias- someone somewhere will be sexually attracted to just about anything that exists. Should we all live our lives under a microscope so as to avoid doing anything at all that will attract another's sexual attention?

I have a thing for men with British accents so all the British posters should stop posting because I'm imagining you speaking and getting distracted. [8D]

(Yes, there's a workplace tie-in but I need to reboot.)

TNDommeK -> RE: Wearing high heel to work (1/17/2013 3:17:50 PM)

This^^ the accent does it every time.

jlf1961 -> RE: Wearing high heel to work (1/17/2013 3:19:24 PM)

You know, I could see the problem if the girl was wearing stiletto heels, a micro mini skirt, garter belt and stockings and a near see through silk top and, if built for it, no bra.

As it stands now, if a woman wants to wear heels to work because she likes the way the feel and make her look fine.

I know it is not necessary, but ladies wear what ever you want.

every woman wears shoes. some happen to wear heels. they are fashionable. in the office no-one gives a crap that you have a fetish. the wedge and heel is top fashion in the uk right now, so all the shopd are full of them. again nothing to do with your fetish.

any woman wearing them to work with that as the foremost thought in her mind needs a kick in the cunt anyway.

I understand that they have no interest in me or my fetish. But do they not have a clue that what they are wearing is sexy and a distraction?

Believe me, we all have a clue about what we wear and why. I think all women wear what they wear to impress other women mostly, but also we know what men like.

But then again, you could wear sneakers to work and construction workers will still yell, Hey Baby sit on my face!

Also, women in business generally know what is appropriate vs. inappropriate and the fact is, you are not taken seriously if you wear something with your boobs out and your ass showing.

Bottom line though; no one is responsible for the OP's issues, except for him.

littlewonder -> RE: Wearing high heel to work (1/17/2013 3:56:01 PM)

Ya know, it's sites like this that just solidifies my belief that there is very little self control and responsibility in the world today.

Oh, I suspect they know it's "sexy"... or at least "visually attractive". But I'm guessing most of them assume that their male coworkers are ... you know... focused on work more than sex. I also have to guess that they assume some basic amount of self-discipline.

I have to admit that while yes, every now and then I'd pass some 20 year old wearing clothes more appropriate for a club than an office environment, when I as at work I was usually thinking about shit like, "where is my next meeting?" and "how will I get there in 2 minutes?" and "what the hell are we going to do about performance reviews?" and the like.

I would imagine that...

o Some women genuinely don't know that they are being distracting.
o Some women deliberately go to work as attractive as possible to make use of that social power.
o Some women do know and aren't interested in changing their behavior because someone can't cope with it.
o Some men make the most ridiculous things into an object of sexuality. Are these ladies really wearing fetish-grade footwear to work or are you biased?

I ideally prefer a 4" heel. I imagine this possibly puts me in your category of distracting coworkers.

That said, this topic makes me think about uniformed work environments and non-uniformed work environments and the benefits/detriments of each.

littlewonder -> RE: Wearing high heel to work (1/17/2013 7:19:25 PM)

Maybe we should all go to work in our pajamas so that we don't distract anyone with our sexy clothing.

Seriously - wouldn't that be awesome?

But more along the lines of what Jeff said - - where I work, we are all so freakin busy it's ridiculous. Yes, there are still office romances and people do socialize in the hallways from time to time, but for the most part we're jam packed with work and either rushing from meeting to meeting or totally focused on what we need to do next.
