I work from home now, so the pajama thing is thoroughly doable. It's usually yoga pants, though.

NuevaVida -> RE: Wearing high heels to work (1/18/2013 8:40:17 AM)

Yep, I work from home on Fridays so I'm usually "slummin" on those days. Right now I'm in slippers. :)

Moonhead -> RE: Wearing high heels to work (1/18/2013 1:17:43 PM)

Marabou mules with peep toes and serious spikes?

Maybe we should all go to work in our pajamas so that we don't distract anyone with our sexy clothing.

Omg this. But wait, what if those PJs are from Victoria's Secret and they are too sexy?

jj292 -> RE: Wearing high heels to work (1/18/2013 2:41:09 PM)

I find this funny that it is always the woman's fault when a man feels distracted by what she's wearing.

Isnt that why the Taliban made women wear burkas? Keep the men from feeling distracted and tempted.

Seriously - wouldn't that be awesome?

But more along the lines of what Jeff said - - where I work, we are all so freakin busy it's ridiculous. Yes, there are still office romances and people do socialize in the hallways from time to time, but for the most part we're jam packed with work and either rushing from meeting to meeting or totally focused on what we need to do next.

At all the places I have ever worked I was always the one who was always at her desk, doing work. It seemed like I never had a shortage. But yet everyone would be up and flitting from employee to employee to gossip, talk, or whatever. Very few people actually ever did their job. I guess that's why I never really made friends at anywhere I ever worked. I was never a water cooler girl.

Yup. Hey op, would it help you if we wore burkas...but still wore our heels?

Ours isn't a "sit at your desk" all day job. There are tons of meetings and lots of interactions with others, on a very necessary basis. Friendships are made as a result, and some socialization helps keep people sane. Yes, some men have been inappropriate, but for the most part, there's just a lot of work to do.

As for attire and shoes, I've always admired nice clothes on women (on men, too, for that matter) and now that I'm happy with my body, I feel good in those same kinds of clothes and shoes. So I wear them - they give me a good feeling.

When I read this thread all I can think of is how many countries and cultures that blame women for the failings of men who are unable to control their desires. [:@]

That won't work. Guy's see pajamas and think "bed" and you know where that line of thought goes. [:D]

One might think yoga pants would be better but it makes guys think of pajamas which makes them think "bed"... etc., etc. [:D][:D]

kiwisub12 -> RE: Wearing high heel to work (1/19/2013 3:34:11 PM)

I'm thinking horse blinders for men. That would keep their minds on their work.[:D]

cordeliasub -> RE: Wearing high heel to work (1/19/2013 3:42:04 PM)

I once was part of a Christian forum where there was a whole thread on whether or not wearing pajamas pants to Wal mart was "immodest" because it made men think of bed, which would cause them to lust..... [8|]

It is so much more fun to be a reprobate now [;)]

See? We just can't win.

If we wore burkas they would think "sheet" which would make them think "bed", right?

RemoteUser -> RE: Wearing high heel to work (1/19/2013 5:50:39 PM)

Interesting how one man brings out sweeping generalizations.

I suppose one poor opinion is bound to beggar others.

I wonder if anyone who has contributed to the commentary about genders like stereotypes, realize that they are objectifying as much as the OP did.

(This is the face of equality - the assault of a gender for the actions of a person. You'll pardon me, if I don't indulge.)

littlewonder -> RE: Wearing high heel to work (1/19/2013 5:56:56 PM)

I'm an equal opportunity stereotypist. [;)]

There ya go!

Actually, I think it triggers the "hidden mystery" response: "I wonder what she has hidden under there?"

heartcream -> RE: Wearing high heel to work (1/20/2013 1:05:19 AM)

There was some argument that if heels genuinely made a foot look better, men would wear them too. Uh, no. The heels are very feminine. Just like tailored dresses look great on chicks and would like crap on a guy.

Cuban heels however look good (and probably feel good I like how they feel wearing them) on both genders.

Alla you wimmins just tempt us men no matter WHAT you wear. We men will never be safe until you all just go nekkid.

So what is it? Is it an empowerment thing? Do you like the reaction you get when a male co-worker can't take his eyes off your feet?

Please discuss.

Let's see. . . the shoes I wear reflect the outfit I am wearing that day which reflect what I am going to be doing that day. Yep, I wear a lot of heels with my dress slacks. The main reason for this, is that my mother hems my dress slacks for me. We wear the same size and she is in another state. However, my mother is an inch taller than I am. So, I need to wear heels with my slacks.

As far as suits, skirts, and dresses, it just depends on their style and what I will be doing.

So. . . bad news for you, buddy, it has nothing to do with you or any other male or female.

absolutchocolat -> RE: Wearing high heel to work (1/20/2013 11:34:48 AM)

FR

I usually don't dress up for work since I am employed in a rather casual home office, but if our engineers or a new intern is coming by, I spice it up a bit with some cheetah print pumps. I'd like to think that I am teasing the hot engineer with them.[;)]
