I'm in Newcastle, Australia - Pacific or east coast city 'bout a hundred miles north of Sydney.

It's too hot to do anything outside so I'm inside with the a/c working hard.

It's about 5 PM and current temp is 47deg C. That's about 116 in American currency.

Talking to my brother the other day (who lives in Seattle, USA) and he was bitching about it being -3.... It was so cold that it was making him ache and nauseous. It was "only" 42C here, that day, and we were both wanting to swap places - be careful what you wish for n all that....

Oh yeah, I'm bored - and naturally there's nothing on the Boards to pique my particular interest while waiting for the sun to set....

Sooooo, what's happening where you are? Anything extreme or just delightfully placid? Boast or bitch to your heart's content - but you've gotta say why.

Focus.

Hello Focus. Polar opposites here.

A light minus five here. About 7.5 cm of snow but freezing rain prior. Monday was lovely but it didn't last long.

Daylight past four pm now.

There's a lovely thought LP - rain.....

I just opened the back door - a wall of heat you could cut with a knife. Some cloud has rolled in and the temp has dropped to 44C.

Snow? I've never seen snow other than tv.... Loooks...., cold? lol

Focus.

It's 116 where you are? Good god.
Northern California here. Cold snap for the last week; it's only been in the upper 50s. We are SO UNHAPPY!

Yeah, compared to what you've got going on, we need to shut up and be grateful. Spring will be here within a few weeks.

Focus, you've never seen snow? Well, we can help with that.

It can be cold, but not necessarily. It's rather pretty.

Cold varies. It can snow at 20 or -40. Right now, the trees are covered in white. You might like it.

"20"? That's 20F or still well under Fahrenheit zero of 32?

Cos we occasionally get a windchill factor that'll get us close to zero C in Winter. But your 20 is about -6 in our money.

Focus.

Yeah, we're having a hot, dry Summer here. I'm betting when I switch on the News, it'll be all about massive bushfires - AGAIN.

The heat's bad enough, but our predominantly native eucalypts burn extra hot because of the natural oil in them.

And as I write, a sprinkle of rain just fell from the recently arrived clouds. Perhaps a storm is looming - I hope.... Sposta be high 20's tomorra, so certainly a cool change is acomin'....

Focus.

Errrm, lilmissdefiant, there's no point rushing over here with your birthday suit when you haven't enquired 'bout the address.

Just sayin'....

USA - Tennessee (more specifically, southeast Tennessee) here.

It has rained for 2 weeks straight with unusually warm temperatures and we've been having minor flooding.

Now we've got temps just below freezing and everyone is freaking out about it. (Pretty typical response for winter weather around here.) Schools closed early today and have already announced closings for tomorrow due to the winter weather. Radio folks are going on about it and the stores are sold out of milk as well as bread. After all, we have an OMG potential of 1 to 6 inches of snow that MIGHT accumulate.

I'm southern, but southern from the mountains of Virginia. I don't know what these folks would do in an average Virginia mountain winter.....much less a bad one.

while I did not quite get all of that ... She is in the US so I am sure She was talking Fahrenheit temps .. which we all speak in the US.

Also, we are in the Northern Hemisphere ... so we are in winter ... while you are in summer. But you knew that.

What else can I say ... but in Michigan .. we just had an early January thaw ... temps as high as 60F. Melted the Eight inches of snow away quick. Then back to zero (F) Now it is really cold, with no snow to stop it ... UGH

Some rain would be nice here.... <sigh>

The "storm" that threatened was just a solitary dark cloud with a few drops. Shades of that ol' corny and generally unfunny "Crock" comic strip.

Just after 6PM and 43C, now.

Focus.

So you've got submissive-type weather - can't seem to make its mind up?

<wonderin' if I'm gonna get some flak for yet another sweeping generalisation>

Germany, Leverkusen.

Winter has finally arrived for us. Over the course of the week we had approximately 15cm of snow, which did stick.
Temperatures today are around -3°C and should be rising to 5°C over the weekend before dropping down to about -15°C, which is really fucking cold for our region.

its 3.35am here in toronto. Its 14F about -8 or -9 C and its snowing, the wind chill can get nasssty tho, not much accumulation tho, we get lucky a lot regarding snow fall because of lake effect, a few miles(30 ) can get walloped tho, I keep saying we need to move further north, cos I cannot deal with the summer heat and I lubs the snow.

Midlands of the UK here. It's been a mild winter so far, but this week we have had first snow and we're expected 10inches of snow on the high grounds today. A lot of the schools are already closed in anticipation even though the roads are still passable. We don't cope very well with snow here.

My poor husband and father work outdoors in this, I feel so bad for them. On the other hand, my baby will get to play in the snow for the first time!
