$170M spent to celebrate the ascension of a man who has spent the last four years demonizing the wealthy.

Amazing.

That's chump change to celebrate the quadriannuel (sp?) renewal of America.

Donald Trump spends more than that with his hairdresser. The wealthy and their superpacs lost this one. Get over it.

.... and is responsible for unprecedented in history wealth transfer to the wealthy.

Not so amazing.

PS. There seems to be a lack of public interest for the event.

That's a Neocon myth. Please cite one example of Obama demonizing the wealthy.

Don't fret. I am sure someone will be along soon not only to explain why it's ok but to give numerous example of someone else doing it first. It seems the only time we are supposed to worry about a politician saying one thing and doing another is when they are on the right side of the fence. If we are really lucky one poster might even get the chance to call him "the kenyan" for the hundreth time.

Not at all, boi. Its between 150 million and 170 million. Too bad the media cant add these days. Its a stupid argument..

But, since you want the comparisons... they have been making them already....

http://mediamatters.org/research/2009/01/19/media-make-false-comparison-of-inauguration-cos/146896

http://www.factcheck.org/2009/01/comparing-inauguration-costs/

Again.... all bullshit. Doesnt matter how much they spend. Its security that costs.. and its that tab we have to pay.... regardless of who is in office or what political party they belong too.

The factcheck link seems to take Newsmax to task, in part, due to the claim that this inauguration will be the most expensive ever. I would be absolutely shocked if they were wrong on that. I'd be absolutely shocked because it seems damn near everything costs more every year, let alone every 4 years. I'm not surprised. At all. And, I'm not bothered by it, either.

Meh.... most I think take the costs to a certain years value... like 1999 dollars.

And again, its part of the job, its part of the perks, and we are gonna pay no matter how much we both. But, at least we dont pay for the fun stuff.

I'm concerned about the fact that the op can't spell inauguration. Maybe we should start a discussion on whose fault that is.

I really dont care to talk about this for two reasons...

1) I wasnt invited

2) they did not take my suggestion of having strippers at the ball and topless waitresses.

When thieves complain about thievery.....it looks pretty dumb.

When demonizers complain about being called names......it looks pretty dumb.

The Kenyan thing,is a dig at the stupidity of your party......

If you don`t like having it being pointed out.....perhaps you should find another leisure pastime...
