Yes, the YOUNGSTERS are getting the HPV vaccine, but those of us older than a certain age, before the vaccine became routine (most of us over age 30 or whatever who POST on here) HAVE NOT had it. I'm not sure why they don't routinely give it to ALL people...since EVERYONE is having sex these days, not just teenagers.

If I ever became single and had to date I'd sure as hell want to have it!

From what I've read, half of sexually active adults either have HPV or have already had it and gotten over it, at which point the cancer risk is already there. So I think the medical community feels like "what's the point?".

I'm over 30 and I got my last shot for my HPV vaccine last year. It cost a pretty penny, so maybe that has something to do with why the older people haven't gotten it as much. And, as you said, it you were single.... I wonder how many of the 'older' posters are not single, and so this isn't as much of a concern.

As a side note, it takes a year to get your HPV vaccine. There are 3 shots, and they are spaced out over the year. And neither of the 2 most common vaccines cover all types of HPV.
