Does your pet need to go to the vet for some "preventive" care every month, or is that a once a year kind of thing? Quite frankly, I have owned animals all my life, and they got their shots as puppies or kittens and were taken to the free rabies clinic. As long as they didn't get sick, they didn't need to see the vet. I know very few people who are prepared for catostrophic medical bills for themselves, let alone their pet. Yes, many rescues are looking for higher qualifications to foster or adopt animals and make it more difficult than trying to adopt a child. In any case, the place that TFB fostered both animals from, she voluteers at, so they know her, and she knows them. They know what she is and is not capable of with an animal and I'm sure that is taken into consideration when considering her as a foster home for a dog. As Sandra and I have said, in TFB's case, that dog is very important and improves TFB's quality of life. The animal gets the vet care it needs, not arbitrary bullshit visits to the vet designed specifically to put money in the vet's pocket. Because based on the life that this dog has with TFB, there are shots Callymay doesn't need. She isn't around other dogs, so she doesn't need those shots. Yes, she has issues, and problems and is disabled in both a mental and physical capacity. So improving her quality of life, which is what this dog does is vitally important. She finds a way to make it work.
