Oh believe me, I'm not Suzy homemaker by any way of the word. Yeah I clean because I hate a dirty house and I don't really cook very often except when I know Master will be here for dinnertime. Otherwise, if it's just me, I just grab something quick like some fruit or veggies or a salad or something really easy and something wholesome.

But it takes nothing to read labels on stuff so you know what you're eating.

Well once I was told to try zesting orange peel into my water and I tried that and it didn't do jack shit, but I could try strawberries left to have a nice soak over night, see if that actually works.

I don't know about using a juicer, but it's super easy to flavor water with fresh lemons or cucumbers. It's a very fresh taste. I'm sure you could do the same thing with fresh sliced strawberries, kiwi, or any other fruit.

The orange zest won't do jack shit. Orange zest doesn't really release flavor unless you cook it/ add heat. You would have had to use the actual fruit of the orange to get any flavor. Just squeeze it a bit, but remove the seeds first.

When I'm feeling ill, I will make a "tea" of hot water, lemon and a little bit of honey. I personally think it helps. Like I said, for people used to strong flavors, they most likely are not going to like such things.

That's been my experience though.

I do a cup of hot water with lemon juice squeezed in every morning. They say it's great for jump starting weight loss because it flushes/cleanses the liver.

Well, I am taking currently about 2.5 cm of beetroot, 2,5 cm lemon and 2,5cm thick slice of ananas mixed with 750ml water....and these days I love it

When I had 3 bottles of that with me at work two days ago and allowed 5 of my kids to taste it and one of them, he is six and we had to tell his mum we dont allow coke in here last autumn!!! drank about 4 glasses of it (not that I allowed him more than 2 glasses of it (after all it was intended for myself ) but that bugger helped himself for more of it in the moments when I briefly left the room

Just remember that juice from fruit put in a juicer won't taste as strong as a carton of concentrated fruit juice.

It may just be me, but I have found the best way to flavor water is to add whiskey and ice.

OK I just have to say, this totally cracks me up every time you post it.

I agree with the others, about juiced fruit/veggies vs what you buy in the store. But still, as a diabetic, be careful about how much you juice (sounds like you already know this, though).

One concoction the Mister's daughter made, which I now love is that she filled a pitcher with water, then added sliced lemon, sliced lime, sliced cucumber, and some mint leaves. After it set awhile, omg it was delicious. And she just kept refilling the pitcher as she drank - the sliced produce hung in there for several days, and then she took everything out, washed the pitcher, and started over. It was very refreshing. You can use oranges, which would probably be sweeter than lemons & limes.

Since I love carbonation but don't like to drink sodas, I buy Sparkling Arrowhead Water - they have various flavors (no sugar or fake sugar) - my favorites are cherry, raspberry lime and pomegranate. But they're about $1/bottle, so not great if you're on a budget.

I had wanted to try carbonated water and orange juice for a very long time, so finally one time a few months back we bought some and mixed it up and it was not super awful, but it wasn't super great either. If I happened to have both on hand, I'd drink it again!

What about coffee creamers? i know all the sugar would not be good for me, but since I'd only need very , very little and they come in some great flavors, maybe they'd be worth a try!

Yeah, read the ingredients. They're made of fat, sugar and artificial flavors.

I'm guessing it wasn't great because you're used to sweetened drinks. It's an acquired taste if it's not something you're accustomed to, but doesn't take long to start enjoying it. I've had carbonated water with just a splash of OJ or cranberry (or any other kind of juice) but you just have to be careful about how concentrated the juice is, or how much sugar is in it.

Oh it was sweet enough, I liked that it was a wee bit bitter and tart, but I didn't like the carbonated waters flavor. I don't like mineral water or the taste of sparkling water apparently.

I love San Pellegrino sparkling water. It's my favorite but it can be expensive. There's a place here in town though that sells stuff that is dented or last leftovers from other stores. They always have San Pellegrino which I can buy for almost nothing.

Unfortunately though Master likes to get on my case about it since it can be bad for your bones and he knows I don't get enough calcium as it is.

I could even put my sweet and low strait into plain water, and just temper it till it's just right and no more, like LL suggested doing with what ever else I drink.

Artificial sweeteners aren't really all that great for you.

And they have a rebound effect that makes you hungry. There are recent studies that show that people using them gain weight, not from the sweetener, but from getting hungry after ingesting the sweetener. I have noticed it in myself that I get hungry after having something with artificial sweetener...so now I drink water or unsweetened iced tea.

Yeah, I remember reading an article about all the things they do to you. I didn't remember specifically, so I didn't want to list anything. I think I remember reading that they are worse than regular sugar and they still affect your insulin levels.

I want to avoid all sweeteners if possible, but splenda I believe is one of the ones that are ok for you, unlike aspartame, or some such. There's also stevia and truvia, which are being touted as very good for you. But I don't have any of that and I have 3 boxes of sweet and low.

This article was about all artificial sweeteners those included.

One thing to keep in mind when consuming those artificial sweeteners is that every one of them including stevia and splenda, is that they are all chemically modified.

maybe that was truvia then because I was told that it was basically from a plant leaf and 100 percent natural, that you could even grow the plant yourself and cut a snip off and put it in your drink and sweeten it that way.

I don't know, there's a ton of mis information and facts burried in mis interpertations that it's hard to know who to believe, or even where to look.
