This was emailed to me by a friend. Now I'm wondering what the Republicans had against the Clinton's marriage.

Bob Dole - divorced the mother of his child, who had nursed him through the long recovery from his war wounds.

Newt Gingrich - divorced his wife who was dying of cancer.

Dick Armey - House Majority Leader - divorced

Sen. Phil Gramm of Texas - divorced

Gov. John Engler of Michigan - divorced

Gov. Pete Wilson of California - divorced

George Will - divorced

Sen. Lauch Faircloth - divorced

Rush Limbaugh - Rush and his current wife Marta have six marriages and four divorces between them.

Rep. Bob Barr of Georgia - Barr, not yet 50 years old, has been married three times. Barr had the audacity to author and push the "Defense of Marriage Act." The current joke making the rounds on Capitol Hill is "Bob Barr...WHICH marriage are you defending?!?

Sen. Alfonse D'Amato of New York - divorced

Sen. John Warner of Virginia - divorced (once married to Liz Taylor.)

Gov. George Allen of Virginia - divorced

Ronald Reagan - divorced the mother of two of his children to marry Nancy Reagan, who bore him a daughter only 7 months after the marriage.

Henry Kissinger - divorced

Rep. Helen Chenoweth of Idaho - divorced

Sen. John McCain of Arizonia - divorced

Rep. John Kasich of Ohio - divorced

Rep. Susan Molinari of New York - Republican National Convention Keynote Speaker - divorced

So they were honest enough to admit they were in a relationship that would not work out so ended it. Is that somehow supposed to be viewed as a bad thing?

So much for the sanctity of marriage, you either believe in it or you don't. Just noting the gross hypocrisy of some Repulicans.

Several women actually married and slept with Rush Limbaugh?

My guess is it had something to do with Lying...
It sucks to be in a position where everyone judges you and your actions.
But lying sure indicates and lack of Honor in my book.
And although I'm Republican I'm not tossing stones at only Bill.
A lack of Honor is a lack of Honor no matter what clothes your wearing.

pahunkboy -> RE: Sanctity Of Marriage?what (6/20/2006 6:14:25 AM)

I forgive Bill.

Chaingang -> RE: Sanctity Of Marriage?what (6/20/2006 7:34:45 AM)

I understand what Quivver is getting at because Republicans never lie.

[8|]

They don't lie about motives, war, taxes, investments, prejudice - no, they sure don't. They just hire PR firms with taxpayer money and get them to do their dirty work for them!

lisa1978 -> RE: Sanctity Of Marriage?what (6/20/2006 7:45:14 AM)

Human nature. Do what I say and not what I do. Remember most people do not watch the news with any regularity or read anything. Politicians from both parties use this to their advantage. Quick sound bites and quotes for their adds. Heck, Bill Clinton attended church regularly even before the scandal.

Marriage is everything. Don't like flag burning. No on gay marriage and so on and so on are just things to get on public record for the election. Just like the vote on asking for a time table on Iraq. It was a Republican stunt so they could all get info for their attack adds. Dem votes for-does not support our troops/flip flopper. Dem votes against-must agree with the President and any words to the contrary makes him a flip flopper.

You know, the people here of all people should maybe understand that the Clinton's maybe had an open marriage and just maybe the rest of us did not belong looking in their bedroom. If Hillary had no problem with it, why should we? I can tell you, I know she knew and decided to stay anyways. Oh yeah, I think she loves him, just me could be wrong... blah blash blah.. and I like neither clinton

Darkmike -> RE: Sanctity Of Marriage?what (6/20/2006 8:31:21 AM)

Perhaps if Bush shagged as much as Clinton he wouldnt have to invade countries to prove his manhood?

pahunkboy -> RE: Sanctity Of Marriage?what (6/20/2006 8:39:51 AM)

It does make you wonder.

I think you are right. Either they have/had an open marriage or a long time ago she or both of them came to an understanding and accepted his indiscreet penis. I just think that poll/public opinion focused Hillary did not care or to be embaressed for something like that to get thrown in her face when you are in the ultimate spotlight.

I would guess that Hillary was probably more pissed about him getting caught then the actual act and maybe she hoped he could keep it in his pants until after he was President.

I always thought it was a joke that other people cast stones on the Clintons who remain married at the same time a lot the people throwing stones have been divorced at least once and many congressman who threw stones were later outed to having affairs themselves.

In the end it was the taxpayers taking it up the ass.

You liberals won't be happy till you're chained to a tree eatin your veggies while slinging bow and arrows at a fetus.

Ahh, perhaps you're correct.  However, it's worth pointing out that, without liberals there wouldn't be any trees to hug, your veggies would kill you with toxins, and your fully developed fetus wouldn't be worrying about arrows because he'd already be serving in some war of liberation in a country which just happens to sit on a bunch of oil.

Good thread, by the way.  Even taking into account the highly intellectualized argument of the quoted poster.

Bill Clinton's ability and intellect were a threat to the GOP from the beginning.  It didn't matter what he did or didn't do, they were always out to get him.

pahunkboy -> RE: Sanctity Of Marriage?what (6/20/2006 9:04:34 AM)

Some of us strive for excellence...

  others of us achieve excellence.

I forgive Bill.

pahunkboy -> RE: Sanctity Of Marriage?what (6/20/2006 9:07:30 AM)

BTW- don't presume every liberal is prochoice, don't presume every liberal is anti NRA.

Sometimes- the both sides think for themself, and decide what they themself thinks.

In general- the govt is getting too intrusive.

When you have more posts under your belt, feel free to take me on,,,,

caitlyn -> RE: Sanctity Of Marriage?what (6/20/2006 9:58:44 AM)

This voter, for one, couldn't care less who is sleeping with whom, married to whom, divorced from whom ... don't care where a politician goes to church, where they go on vacation, or how many miles they run in the morning.

What they did when they were in their 20's and people were shooting at them, says absolutely nothing about how they will handle things today. It's called growing up, and people do that as they get older, rumor has it.

Even their voting record is not really all that important a consideration in my mind, in that political leaders in a given state, should really be voting in alignment with the majority view of the state they represent.

Provide for the common good, don't spend up the debt, try not to piss off our long-standing friends, and think things through before you send our troops to war ... and you can probably secure my vote. [;)]
