I don't remember being that way as a teenager but I was the type of teenager who was idealistic, wanted to save the world and rainforests and animals and all that....and then I grew up. [:D]

:) I never was that way with my mother either but she was going to school full time and working so I rarely saw her. I ran with a bit of a rough crowd back then and while we met at a friends house they did not have anything to eat. I was sure we could come up with something at mine. I did not bother looking to see if my mom's car was there and I walked in with my friends. Surprise the patient count was low so she got to come home. I was trying to play it off like I came home with pothead headbangers all the time and introduced them to my mom, all the while thanking god I did not drink or smoke anything that day. Wow the tension was thick as my mother gave me the we will talk about this later look all while not being rude to my friends. I did manage to convince her that they were not really stoned they were just a little slow. I never was rude about it. There was not much she could do to me since she was never home, but still I guess it was ingrained in me to not be a smart ass to my mother. My mom got a good laugh when I was trying to figure out how to get something to work right on the stereo and my son just said oh my god mom give it here and had it working in a few minutes. She told me to get used to it since kids think once they reach a certain age they can boss their mothers around. I gave her the innocent look of I do not know what you are talking about dear mother.

I believe everyone apreciates intelligence, but I personally hate the word, in that it is an imprecise thing among different groups. And it's a potentially negative way to judge or discriminate against someone. M
