Update:
My bike tyres can't handle the roads around here,
third puncture in as many months, all from little
rocks, I've been trying to work the legs and the
cardio by playing football here and there, according
to American Dad, "like kangaroos and rapists, a
wrestlers power comes from their legs."
So legs have been on the agenda for a while, not
sure if they are really progressing too much, I
need to get new bike tyres asap!

Have you gotten new tires yet? My housemate said that you should check the rims to see if there are any burrs (he works in a bike shop, and 6 of the 8 bikes in the basement are his). It could be compounding the problem for you. Or, you could ask FrostedFlake. He seems to know his stuff with bikes.

I have been very busy with a lot of stuff lately,
mostly work related, but also academic so my
morning workouts have taken a hit...

I really am at my limit with all thats on my plate
right now, the work I've been up to latley is
extremely physical so if I had tried to keep it up
this week, I don't think I would have been able to
make it through the day, so yea very tired atm, I
don't feel too bad about it, definitely will be
burying myself in a heap of workout hours
beginning next week, after next week I don't know
what my schedule will look like so better to cram it
in before then.

Hmmm.... sounds like my life sometimes. [:D] My housemate had to schedule a meeting with me to talk about some things. lol. I hope you're taking care of you with all of that work and workout.

Actually, I'll mention about injuries, I've had a mild
but persistent case of tennis elbow for years, it is
now almost non-existent, that is four months of
careful, structured exercise and a healthy diet and
I have basicly got a brand new elbow! Thats was
pretty unexpected! I kinda like using that arm as a
pillow... I don't think it likes it... [&o]

So I set out not really having a specific goal in
mind, just to improve generally, and on almost all
counts I'm quite happy with myself so far, I would
pat myself on the back if I could still reach it...[:D]

Hope this gives a bit of encouragement to you guys,
It has for me!

I'm glad you're happy with where you are so far.

As for me, I'm happy with the progress I've made, but I've been contemplating hiring a trainer for a session or two to figure out more targeted workouts, and to make sure that I'm keeping it balanced. Oh, and to figure out how to get rid of the squish factor. I've been working on my abs a lot, and while I can definitely see improvements (note the belt hole post earlier) and feel actual muscle there when I flex, it's still covered in a layer of squish. I would love to get rid of, or at least lessen that, but I'm not sure if what I'm currently doing will be enough to achieve that, or if I need to change something.

One improvement that I'm noticing is that my knees aren't giving me problems as often. I've started changing out my rowing machine at the start of my workout for the stationary bike. I used to not be able to go for very long because my knee would start hurting/clicking. Now I'm finding that I can do it for a while, and at the end it's the muscles that are hurting (in a good way) rather than my joints. I'm really looking forward to taking my bike out of the basement now that it's warm enough (yeah, I'm a wuss and didn't ride in the winter).

absolutchocolat -> RE: Workout (5/8/2013 8:26:04 PM)

FR

Tried the first DVD of Insanity today, and almost killed myself. Boobs were hitting me in the face, thighs were sticking together...it was tragic. Gonna stick to walking for now -_-

ARIES83 -> RE: Workout (5/9/2013 12:13:47 AM)

I tried to find the photo I took but nada, they are little pointy shards of gravel, like thorns! [:o] every time I've had a a puncture I check the tyre and find one of those spiky little bitches buried in there...[:o]
Thanks for the ideas though! But it's definitely the rocks, they are nasty!

I've actually decided to swap the biking for beach jogging for a while, hopefully when it gets colder, i'll be able to ride to the beach and then do a run then ride home, but that is a very far off goal, hopefully if all goes extremely well, I'll be up there by october.[X(]
Oh, the biking has been err, not working out my lower back well... I've noticed it when playing football lower back needs some work so the idea with the sand running was to get the lower back/ bum area a bit of a different sort of workout, also one knee was starting to get RSI or something, so yer swapping and hopefully the swap will build up some different bits then I plan on bringing the biking back in mid winter.

About taking care of me... I'm happiest when I'm pushing myself in some way. This year has basically been an exercise in managing injuries yes... I'm injured now, but working around it. I don't want coddling sweetie. Don't take it the wrong way, I'm glad you would think of my wellbeing, but your going to have to keep that stuff to yourself.[8D]

I did notice your belt hole post! Congrats. Do we get a picture? [;)]
The trainer may be a good idea if you can do it, most of the gyms up here have people working in there, who can do sessions in the gym, I checked out a crossfit gym last month, they are basically training groups and one on one all day.
Cross fit is something I'd like to try one day, it looks intense but I have a thing... When I do intense things... [:(]
... I sound like I'm constipated, and err... Spittle comes out... It's not a good look -_-...

Have you been doing anything in particular to make your knees better or did it just happen?

ResidentSadist -> RE: Workout (5/9/2013 9:38:58 AM)

Fucking ouch . . . what was I thinking?

After the move from Daytona to Orlando area, after setting up a new office I was away from the gym for months. I went back yesterday. To my surprise, I found I could lift the same weight as where I left off. So I backed it down by 25% so as not to hurt myself and picked up my sets where I left off, including stripping sets. I release I haven't hit a plateau and need stripping/exhaustion sets. It's my first day back . . . it's just that I picked it back up where I left off.

So that brings us to today. I am sorry, am I tying too slow? That because my arms hurt! Stripping sets was not a good idea. When I recover, I'll go back and start with a nice maintenance routine until I get in the groove again . . . . someone pass the sweet potatoes, I burnt up all my glycogen and my arms and legs hurt!

lmpishlilhellcat -> RE: Workout (5/9/2013 4:17:26 PM)

I feel the same way as Aries. I've gotten a few workouts in. At least I played a good game of basketball this week. I've missed it and haven't had time with the recent schedule changes in our life. Unfortunately I'll miss it again the following week. I only got one other good workout in this week and that was Monday. I've been having issues making some me time. I feel lie everyone wants something from me. This means that usually due to time constraints my workouts are what get cut or shortened. I guess on the plus side I haven't been eating much this week, so I don't need to worry about gaining weight either!

I haven't run in a few weeks, which is probably going to be my primary focus at least 3 times a week(starting next week). Myself and a few others from work are doing a color run in July. I've been voted team moral leader (my job is to make sure that everyone keeps running)

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Workout (5/10/2013 3:59:59 PM)

lovethyself - Yay!! That's GREAT!

On a personal note, I added an exercise a couple of weeks ago to my routine due to it being used in a shoot and damn I am glad I did. I had to that in another shoot today and it was wonderful!

lmpishlilhellcat -> RE: Workout (5/12/2013 4:54:06 PM)

I set a few goal weights for myself. I didn't even know if I was going to get close to the weight I wanted to be and I didn't want to set myself up to fail. When I was working with a trainer I didn't even come close to where I wanted to be or where I am now.

As of today 1 year almost exactly to when I set my goal and began exercising, I am 15 lbs away from my "first" goal weight!! It's not the final weight I want to be, that's 25 lbs away. That still isn't that far from where I want to be!!! YAY!

ShaharThorne -> RE: Workout (5/12/2013 7:35:39 PM)

Okay, my 26/28 size pants (also 4X and 3X) are falling off of me. When I get home, I have to dig out my old pants. I am keeping my shirts at 3X or 4X because of the boobies. Need to get the front of the exercise bike/elliptical machine out so I can use it while Mom is healing from her broken leg. I also got a 65 cm coreball in my closet that I pull out once in a while to work on my abs.

I just hope that the BBQ ribs did not add any weight. Bo is a damn good cook!

lmpishlilhellcat -> RE: Workout (5/18/2013 6:09:47 PM)

So I went shopping for the first time in awhile. I haven't really tried much on since I've dropped the weight. My aunt dragged me out shopping. I've never really been able to shop at Ann Taylor Loft because to me their clothes are tiny. I literally walked out of the fitting room with this adorable shirt on and the store manager looked at me and said that shirt is too big, take it off I'll get you a smaller size. EEK! That was super exciting. Plus, when I wear clothes that are form fitting I look thin!!! I'm so excited that my workouts are working!!!!

Oh yeah and I was looking at myself in the mirror today and I have actual ab lines! I still have a lot of work to do, but I'm making HUGE progress!!

ARIES83 -> RE: Workout (5/19/2013 6:56:42 AM)

Congrats to all the weight loss everyone! And Impish, wow at your ab lines!
I am going through an adjustment at the moment with workload and worktimes so it's been a bit all over the place. I've been trying to do x3 circuits of my workout routine before i start work, I guess it's only maintence working out, which is disappointing because it would only require a fortnight or so to step up to a higher weight/resistance... It's like a plateau of not enough time which is frustrating because I so know I could push past it...

I am probably 90% uninjured too! Thanks to swapping some exercises for other ones which is great, I've been testing out some squat type exercises lately and am considering adding them into the circuit, apparently according to some schools of thought, squatting is a fundamental exercise which a lot of other things build on, and apparently, if you squat poorly then that means you do a lot of other things poorly, or at least not as well as if you were in good squatting condition.

Does anyone have any thoughts on that?

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Workout (5/19/2013 9:03:32 AM)

ShaharThorne - Congrats!

Imp - YAY! isn't that a wonderful feeling when you try things on and they are to big?

I tried on my swim suit from last summer and it literally feel off me. It was funny but sad. Especially since I thought I might need it for a shoot. Lol

Yikes!

Aries - I'm glad you are getting over your injury. I do squats with dumbells under my feet, squat kicks and sumo squats. My primary does squat jumps but b/c of my bad knee, I wont even attempt that. Lol

Personally,
I haven't been in a scale in awhile, but I am loosing inches and toning like crazy. I look at pictures taken exactly a yr ago (when I 1st began this life changing journey) and I look like a totally different person from head to toe.

I also admit I absolutely LOVE that my primary and I are on this journey together. Not only are we improving ourselves but this is improving us and making us stronger.

ARIES83 -> RE: Workout (5/19/2013 9:52:48 AM)

How do you do a squat with dumbbells under your feet? I'm picturing you balancing on dumbbells... [&:]
I've seen a picture of a guy squatting on one of those big exercise balls, now that takes balance! But I have a feeling I'm picturing something completely different from what your talking about...

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Workout (5/19/2013 6:52:33 PM)

Aries,
I actually got this from one of Jackie Warners workouts.

Stand shoulder width apart with a dumbbell placed under each of your feet.(under the heels)
Lower your legs as if you were sitting in a chair keeping your shoulders above your knees until your knees are parallel.

Hold for a brief moment then raise back up to standing position.

I do this holding dumbbells by my side or just as described above.

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: Workout (5/20/2013 6:04:06 AM)

LilSquaw you must be much more graceful than me, I can only barely do regular squats without losing my balance. I can't imagine having to do it with my heels off the floor.

I'm glad to hear you guys are all going strong because I really let things slide. Sleep deprivation sets off my low moods and then I can't seem to motivate myself to move - which is stupid because I have proven to myself time and time again that exercise and good food helps tremendously.

Anyway this weekend my best friend's mum, a marathon runner, told me she was entering me into a 10k in October and she is going to run with me. With an act of kindness like that I certainly can't let her down. So... back in the game.

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Workout (5/20/2013 5:09:18 PM)

Athena,

Hugs, I hope you feel better soon.

I can do them NOW but a year ago when I started doing them I felt like I was going to tip over. Lol I have a love hate relationship with some of my exercises including my squats, however; doing certain ones are not only toning and reshaping my body but they def. make my shoots so MUCH easier!

When my sleep is interrupted my whole body chemistry is thrown off and I get into those funks as well. Bed and Bath has this sleep spray that my primary got me hooked on, it truly works wonders!

I didn't work out Thursday b/c of a 5 hour wrestling shoot and I took off Friday to recoup as well. Today I felt like I was dragging ass in my work out b/c of it.

ARIES83 -> RE: Workout (5/26/2013 10:17:02 PM)

Doing a triple circuit of my routine, said it here to make sure I finish it... I've said it now!
**Omygad...**
(Well 3x3=9 circuits so I mean 9) 1down...

ARIES83 -> RE: Workout (5/26/2013 11:53:56 PM)

Foouuurrrr....

ARIES83 -> RE: Workout (5/27/2013 2:23:39 AM)

I don't know if theres a word for it...
But I did it, and I'm to buggered to even care... I'm just glad it's over.
I probably wont put my word on the line next time... I think most of my shits broken now...
[&o]

Only really wanted to post this up for the time stamp to see how long it took.

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: Workout (5/27/2013 2:48:53 AM)

Woooo! ARIES ARIES he's our man! If he can't do it... NO ONE CAN!

ARIES83 -> RE: Workout (5/27/2013 3:09:08 AM)

Thanks! Now stuffing myself with junkfood! [:D]
