I love the name of that run!

lmpishlilhellcat -> RE: Workout (2/2/2013 8:36:44 PM)

It's a 3k run, where people dress as zombies and chase you. Oh yeah, and it's at night in the dark.

That does sound badass.

MusicInstr78 -> RE: Workout (2/3/2013 10:21:04 AM)

I was going to go do that with the last guy I dated...didn't happen obviously, but I do plan on doing a marathon for ms this spring, even if I am only walking by the end I will have proved that I can do it.

Level -> RE: Workout (2/3/2013 10:29:43 AM)

Great attitude, and I like your food choices from earlier in the thread.

theshytype -> RE: Workout (2/3/2013 8:09:01 PM)

It's been 2 weeks since my last workout. I hurt my back doing stretches afterwards and apparently my body was not feeling it.
I, however, was feeling it and ended up on the floor in pain, couldn't move for 1 1/2 hours until my husband got home.
I healed quickly, but admit I'm afraid to get back at it.
I feel so sluggish without the workouts and am hoping to get back on tomorrow.

I also admit your thread is helping give me a little push I think I need (especially seeing how disciplined you are - good for you!)

I am glad that this thread is helping you. :)
I feel like utter crap if I don't work out.

This morning after my work out my squats and lunges where rough.

While my back unfucks itself, I use my Prowler sled, and I love it. There's no more fascinating feeling than your body raging against itself in response to you pushing as much weight as fast as possible. It's like your body is trying to aggressively reject itself.

I just realized I typed 3K it's actually a 5K. :P I'm looking to see if I can find the video online of past runs.

Yeah it does! Good practice, too, for the coming Zompocalypse.

My "workout" regimen, now that I am working out again, consists of a lot of walking, and light weight lifting. I also completely cut out soda, juice, Gatorade/Powerade, sugar drinks in general, and just stick with coffee and water. I'm not trying to be He-Man, but I also don't want my shape to be "round" anymore. I got lazy/depressed and let myself go.

Feeding the zombies other folks is always a good way to survive the zombie attacks. Then you don't have to run as fast. hehehe

We just began a diet pool at work - we each contributed 10 bucks and the one who loses the most weight by the end of Feb gets the pot. I am not a fan of rapid weight loss, but it is at least getting me started. I need to lose about 40 pounds.

I have researched diets and plans to try to find something that I think will work for me. Thanks to thyroid, age, and some evil medications that messed with my chemistry, I need to find something effective. I am starting the anti-diet that has been featured a couple of times on Dr. Oz. The biggest challenge is finding creative ingredients in this tiny town with 2 grocery stores. We have a local gym here, so I use the weights there and the elliptical and then walk outside with the dog - about 3 miles. My goal is to work back up to running.

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Workout (2/4/2013 2:55:53 PM)

My old apartment complex started a Biggest Loser competition around the same time I started my life change. So I ended up joining it. It was wonderful motivation. Heck, money is always great motivation. Lol

lmpishlilhellcat -> RE: Workout (2/4/2013 3:00:22 PM)

I cut my sugar down, doubled the amount of veggies and protein I eat in a day. It seems to be working for me. What I realized once I started tracking everything is that I don't eat a ton of carbs. Most days when I think I'm having a cheat day I find I'm still well within my calories. Today is a step back for me because there's a bit of stress. Even still it's not crazy like it would have been in the past.

I have also found that the more I change it up the more my body responds. If I fall into a routine where I'm doing the same thing week after week I fall into a rut.

Here's the description.. All I can find are some pictures. Get ready for the most terrifyingly fun 5k you will ever experience. Survivors (runners) will navigate “Apocalypse Avenue” and “Kill Hill” as they run a 5k course in downtown between sunset and darkness. Keep your two “life strips” (flag football flags) safe to avoid infection (time penalties). All you have to do is dodge over 200 hungry zombies along the way!

One of the only nighttime zombie races in the world.

I actually found some zombie races on youtube.
They look sooo fun!

Diana50 -> RE: Workout (2/4/2013 3:56:39 PM)

I'd love to join you all. :)

I do have some issues though, that are going to be challenging. I could use all the suggestions I can get.

Fibromyalgia - OUCH! If I walk too long, I hurt for 4 days after.

Hypoglycemia - I don't have diabetes, and doctor doesn't know why, but every time I walk on my treadmill, my sugar drops FAST, after only 15 minutes!

Very small appetite, and lately, food doesn't appeal to me at all.

OK .. have at it. [:D]

Diana

lmpishlilhellcat -> RE: Workout (2/4/2013 4:20:49 PM)

Try pilates. They make some really great beginner tapes. It's really just the movement of your body. I would say yoga it tends to stretch and lengthen the muscles, but you have to be very careful because some that say they are beginners are difficult.

Or you could start with something like Tai Chi.

theshytype -> RE: Workout (2/4/2013 4:26:33 PM)

How about anything involving water? There's classes, or just swimming laps burns a lot of calories.
