Oh please. The President went to all the trouble of faking a picture sometime, at latest last summer, so as to use it to prove a point he didn't know he'd need to make until December? Is that really the claim being made here?

BTW did he also fake this:

I'm having trouble buying this photo. If you draw a line through the sights, it hits Obama's face where his eyebrow would be. Wrong. The fingers of his right hand are touching the barrel. Also wrong. Maybe he's just inexperienced? Too, a friend of mine questioned the amount of smoke the photo shows, because smokeless powder produces only a negligible amount of smoke.

I dunno. What do you think?

I don't know about that either. I've never seen a barrel with a single port that far back from the muzzle. But, that may just be due to my unfamiliarity with the range of shotgun barrel designs

Barrels are ported in this fashion so there is an upward gas release thus minimizing barrel raise and recoil.

I'm with AthenaSurrenders. Why go to the trouble of faking it when there really isn't any big hurdle to just going out and taking the photo. There are readily-available commercially-produced shotguns with that style of porting, go and look at them sometime. Any gun store with a decent selection of sporting clays shotguns should have them.

Also, I have to think that someone so new to shooting that their form is that bad would also be inclined to say "skeet" rather than "I still stink at it, so they just lob easy birds for me." So, the low angle of the shot doesn't really bother me.

My first thought when I saw the photo was that it was a photo of Obama holding (not shooting) a shotgun with smoke added for effect.

If Hillary were here and you asked her if it was fake she would say "What difference does it make?".

I do not see why, that would be a departure from anything she has ever said before in terms of context.

He has shitty form too.

Not someone who goes skeet shooting "all the time", eh?

Say it isn't so!

My guess is first time he's held one. If the picture is faked, it's because it's posed. And poorly.

I know nothing about firearms. I know a great deal about photoshop and image manipulation in general. At this resolution it's hard to tell but if it IS a fake it was a carefully done one. I'd be willing to say that there was definitely SOMEONE holding SOMETHING that was gun-shaped. The smoke could've been added later so it might have been a toy gun. It may or may not be Obama.

JPG artifacts and low resolution make it hard to go beyond that. The really interest parts are all gone.

OK, several points have been brought up. But 1st to your OP. I drew it out with red lines in the photo below.

Sight Alignment - Yes, it looks real.
Look at his cheek. This photo was taken after he fired. Naturally the recoil buried the gun in his cheek which jogged it out of sight alignment after he fired because of his poor form. I am sure the sights were in alignment before he pulled the trigger.

Magnaports - Yes, it looks real.
A "ported" gun has vents on the barrel to release gas pressure before the bullet pops out of the end. It reduces recoil. In general, it takes an 8 foot long barrel for all the gas to expand before the bullet leaves the end. Recoil is caused by the expanding gas shooting out the end of the gun when the bullet leaves... it turns the end of the gun barrel into a mini rocket motor so to speak. This is what causes recoil.

I use Magnaport to reduce recoil. On pistols there are several ports, all on top. But if you have ever had a rifle done, you would find a double port, which only has one of the ports on top.

Also, notice it is a double barrel over under for trap & skeet. See the top barrel is longer, it has a choke. Chokes are a threaded sleeve that screws into the end of the barrel to modify the dispersion pattern. Choked guns have threaded barrels at the end. You shouldn't port near the threads and have to port further back on choked guns.

Again, recoil my friend. If you have ever watched someone shooting with magnaported guns, after recoil and recovery, the smoke plume is nowhere near where the vent was before you pull the trigger.

Skeet vs angle - Yes, it looks real.
If you have shot trap, skeet & clays, you would know it does not involve the Hollywood version of aiming at the clays in the sky. You hike or ride through a course to a variety stations. (below)

You shoot at various angles and at all manner of targets to simulate hunting. The clays are launched at many elevations. In fact at the 'rabbit run' you have to aim down at clays rolling on the ground. Here is a group at a station that just happens to be at the same angle as Obama. (below)

In conclusion
I can understand that if you never shot shot trap, skeet & clays with a group of people geared up enough to have their weapons choked and Magnaported, the photo may appear odd at first. I hope this clears up any questions. Yes, it all looks very real.

For potential enthusiasts & those unfamiliar - It's like golfing with guns
If you have never shot traps, go try it. It is a total blast. You ride around in golf carts or ATVs and travel through nature trails to clearings where the shooting stations and trap launchers are. A little like a golf course.

There is a button that releases the clays. You take turns launching the targets for each other. You shoot and keep a score card. At the end you return to the clubhouse and turn in your cards. They post your standings. Yes, it's an awful lot like golfing with guns.

There is a Great club in Sarasota that one of our esteemed CM members took me to. http://sarasotagunclub.com/ As I recall, there were a couple CM members that shot there.

Sure made a difference when it was her husband though, didn't it?

Thanks. I used to shoot a lot. I would like to apologize because I said that Obama had poor form.

The buttstock seems a fraction high on his shoulder.
His fingers touch the barrel in the photo, which would burn the hell out of them.

However, he is actually squared off rather neatly to the gun. His feet look planted well. His fingers are wrapped well on the forestock and curled back instead of wrapped over. Perhaps his fingers were properly positioned before he fired... or maybe it is true what they say about the length of a man's fingers reflecting his genitals. Maybe Obama is hung like a horse and no gun without a fully wrapped forestock will fit him well.

Anyway, unless I see a pic before he pulled the trigger, it all could all be recoil movement.

I think he did it, but I don't think he inhaled.

(I have no facts to back that up with).

No, It's not fake. It's a Browning Citori 725, which is ported exactly where it shows in the image (if you look closely at the image you can even see the round holes of the vent port).

Do I think he goes skeet shooting "all the time?" Hell no.

Maybe the photo is faked and maybe it isn't.
Personally, I could care less either way. : )

Thank you for pointing out the debased mentality behind this thread. If only I had realized. My apologies to Jewish persons everywhere. Please forgive me for having slightest uncertainty about the utter and complete truth depicted by the photo. In future, I promise never again to question anything in a way you disagree with.
