-FR-

I did introduce myself in the Intros section. It wasn't my first post, but it was on the first day that I was here. Now I'm addicted. I don't post much to the more serious/information gathering type threads, because I'm still new to this lifestyle. When I have something to contribute to the discussion, I will. Otherwise, I lurk and read through it.

Oh, and Hi to the new posters that seem to have introduced themselves in this thread. Welcome. Hope you stick around.

Wait-- what? How?

Other than getting to wear comfortable shoes and no makeup, how in the world is life easier for us?

Fixededed.

OP, why do many people probably shy away from this side of the site? Could it be that this side is rife with closeminded, single-note gainsayers, insular and cloying?

No. Of course not.

Over the years, I'll check in on the intro forums now and then when I am hunting for a new relationship. However, I agree with you in that the other side is much more effective. Especially the new users section.

I think the nicest thing the Introduce Yourself forums does for you is that it gives you a personal thread. We can chat with you about anything we like and freely change topics without hijacking some other person's thread.

Welcome aboard.

I never really see folks stay that introduce themselves. I usually will post in my journal that we are having good discussions on this side. But I haven't seen any takers.

Do very many people who say Hi in the intro bit here go on to be regular forumites.
I dont see many whose nic I recognise.
And if not...why do you think that is

I've never posted an intro thread. In 2007, I was reading something here, and realized I knew something about the topic, and felt strongly about it, so I wrote my first post. I think that's pretty standard. People post in Intros because the other side is boring and they want to liven up their experience a bit. People post in the threads because they get something out of interacting on a forum.
