~FR~

Way too many good movies and TV shows to list so I'll just list a few that I currently have toward the top of my queue on Netflix and Amazon Prime or that I watch weekly. I try to never miss "Justified," "Archer," "The Big Bang Theory," "Portlandia," "Nashville" and "American Horror Story" when they're running.

Older shows I could watch over and over are "Homicide: Life on the Street," "The Wire," and "Law and Order: SVU" (I watch the current ones too but I miss Stabler so much). A new Fox show called "The Following" is turning out to be pretty good. Older comedy series I watch a lot through Roku are "The Sarah Silverman Show," "Strangers with Candy," "The IT Crowd," and "Keeping up Appearances."

That's just the tip of the iceberg but stuff I really enjoy.......luci

Alaska State Trooper. Like Cops but in the wilderness and sub zero temps of Alaska. Beautiful scenery much of it from small planes.

There's very few shows I enjoy so usually the tv is just background noise for me, but there are a few shows I'm able to sit through:
The Big Bang Theory
The Walking Dead
The Following (a new one I'm really liking)
Sons of Anarchy

I'm still iffy on The Americans but am trying to get into it. I will NOT watch any "reality" shows.
Typically, if none of these shows are on then we watch movies. Any movie.

Would The Walking Dead be suitable if the OP is going to be watching the DVDs with babies to hand?
(mind you: I'm nobody to talk: the same objection applies to Edge Of Darkness, really.)

My 4yo niece has a 'game'...she ask if you are a Walking Dead...if so, she beats up on you.

My brother gets the blunt of the action. She just smothers herself in my belly when she wants hugs.

This is super cute.

But no, it's ok I won't be watching any of this until she's in bed. I try to not have the TV on in the background because she just stares at it slack jawed, when the house is quiet she gets really busy in play. Though I have to admit, we do watch clips on the sesame street website.

Thank you for all of the suggestions, so many of these I have never even heard of so will be looking them up.

We love big bang theory. My husband is into Walking Dead but I can take it or leave it. My big thing was Fringe but that just finished.

I'm so surprised to hear some of the BBC stuff is so popular in the US. Might have to go re-watch some of it.

Anyone that likes the Walking Dead series should really check out the comics.

They are wonderful!

I haven't watched the American's, is that the one with the spies??

At the moment? I'm watching "Shakespeare Uncovered". It's a show in multiple parts about Shakespeare and his plays.

I like watching Dr. Who, anything pretty much on the History Channel, National Geographic and Discovery Channel.

I like Being Human and The Big Bang Theory. I can't really think of any others at the top of my head. I don't really think I have any other faves. I just flip through channels until I find something I've never seen and sounds interesting or I just land on a channel just for background noise. Half the time I have no idea what's even on.

Oye, I spend enough time around the Amish, on a daily basis, now.

BBC is pretty great. I'll watch it from time-to-time.

The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad are the only shows I actually schedule myself to watch. Both are well produced, well acted and have intriguing story lines. My Sunday nights will have a void when they go off the air for good, or heaven forbid, one of the shows decides to "jump the shark" and does something stupid to ruin it.

At the moment I'm watching Downton Abbey, The Walking Dead, and How I met your Mother. All time favorite series is MASH.

If I want the telly equivalent of comfort food, nothing beats my beloved MASH boxed set.

I enjoy, in no particular order and in some parts already older:

Sherlock (the BBC show)
NCIS (Gibbs! and Abby!)
Bones
Rizzoli and Isles
Castle
The walking Dead
Supernatural
Babylon 5
Shark
Older Law and Order seasons

There are some more that I can take or leave, but those are my stand outs on top of my head.

I can't stand CSI, it demands to much suspension of disbelieve in areas that I am knowledgeable about.
