No, not really, DC. Just a general point about my respect for Benedict generally, and what he says about anything, in particular.

balancing yer nuanced comments in totality, would ya say ya dont like benedict very much? [8D]

Well, OK. So far, there have been a few thousand Catholic priests worldwide who've been accused of loathsome paedophiliac abuse of minors. Many of those accused still haven't faced the courts or even the police. Benedict did something, but not enough.

So, to take a more balanced and nuanced view - weighing the broken minds of thousands against the reputation of just one old man - I'd say yup, it's about time the withered little bastard fucked off. I hope that helps.

i agree not enough done but the vatigan is not just the pope. hear the curia holds loadsa power.

The Catholic church like all other religions is all about raising money. The majority of funds raised come from the United States and Europe. The next pope willl come from there also.

Change his whole attitude.

His ticker's in bad enough shape as it is, mate: getting him laid won't help his pacemaker, will it?

My dad is fond of citing Harold Wilson, arguing with a Catholic priest about abortion, saying 'If you don't play the game, don't make the rules'. HW had his moments. [;)]

It is a nice line, true enough.

Many see the two as spiritual brothers.

And now the Pope decided to appoint Ernst von Freyberg, as head of the Vatican Bank. The conspiracy theorists will have a party with this information, he is CEO as well as the family representative of Blohm & Voss, in addition to being a German baron and a Knight of Malta.

The public image of this s already being discussed globally.
