If I enjoyed doing it, (cooking that is,) than it would be as Dommely, non labled, a task as I wanted it to be, but since I don't particualy care to cook its a chore that I'd much rather pass on to a sweet darling ever so willingly submissive or other individual that's happy to take on the task of preparing some sumpuous delights for my taste buds.

I have to say that I find great pleasure in pleasing my Mistress and those in the past with my gourmet cooking skills......They have all seemed to enjoy it very much. I love to please with a well cooked and presented meal for her......

i'm really dissapointed to hear the women's responses to this question. As a potential sub and an excellent cook, I was hoping that would be the sub's job.

That would go in the column of things you want.

The fact is that most folks are still gender trained as children so women are often trained as girls to do cooking and they learn to enjoy it as a form of individual creation and immediate gratification OR as a chore.

You'll want to find someone who sees it as a chore or who didn't get this gender training.

I'm also a super picky eater so if I cook, it will be what I want.

For the record I know its then (not than) and  particularly (not that gosh awful world below that I wrote in its place)  didn't reread before posting.  I'm a bad speller, but I'm not that bad darnit.  I had to do this correction for my own sanity.   now I feel so much better.  Florida mentality is really rubbing off on me.

I'm not that into cooking, but I'm even less into food poisoning.  If the one I am with is a good cook the kitchen is their territory, barring me being in a particular mood to make something (and if so it is usually to bake and I'm still more than willing to deligate clean up).  If the one I am with has no tallent in the kitchen I will likely do the cooking, but this might encourage them to learn, as I tend to not be the neatest cook ever.

IronBear -> RE: Cooking- Submissives or Your job? (6/21/2006 6:40:08 PM)

Depends who wins the fight to own ther kitchen that night all else fails I can alwats toss for body parts opf some wandering beast and a few roots on the BBQ.........

Seriously, Neets loves to cook. If a slave is a good cook I'll work a roster based on Neet's work schedule, There are time when Ilikwe to bestire myself and toss together some goret dinner or similar...... Washing dishes is another thing.. I wash the dishes, pots and pans untill my leg screws up and I need to sit. I expect them to be dried and put away because I can't always bend to do that without a shit load of pain and I already have enough.... All home chores are rostered but are based on who is closer and who is best suited.....

I'm a trained gourmet chef, and truly enjoy preparing food. At the same time, since we are both going for our second doctorates, and trying to hold down full-time jobs plus family responsibilities as well, there are nights when cooking -anything- (even getting up to make a bowl of cereal and soy milk) is just too much trouble. At the same time, we prefer to know what goes into our food (and tend to eat heavily from organic foods, fresh grains and vegetables), so fast-fooding is not something we -like- to do. So we would like a servant who -could- cook when we can't.

Now dishes -- in our household, those are definitely not my job!

Dear BlueEyedTwist, Ladies and Gentlemen;

It really is a good question indeed.

My mind's eye sees it in a way, to which the dominant should enjoy doing what they wish.  However, if submissives feel 'fulfilled' by cooking and serving a meal, a dominant needs to give their submissive another way to feed their submission and or service.

Consistancy is so important.  If you like to get your own soda, fix your own lunch, etc.  Do so but, I highly recommend giving another way a slave or submissive can serve you.  Taking some jobs away from them has their hearts and minds wondering why they're needed if you're doing all the work.

If there are certain times that they serve or not, that should be known as to create harmony.  It really is a communication and understanding between the dominant and submissive/slave.  Each situation is best governed by the couple and or poly household themselves.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

I love to cook - In my home though cooking dinner is a social occasion. We have a big breakfast bar and I'll hand out cutting boards and ingredients for people to chop, slice, mince, whatever... then I'll start assempling and cooking whatever we're having. We have a great chance to catch up on our day, talk about stuff that needs family attention, and plan social stuff while we're busy.

We often set the table with our finest stuff (we have several sets of dishes), and we will have a beautiful, formal dinner, just for us.

All of my friends and family knows that the best gifts to me for christmas/yule is table linens, or something for my kitchen. I got TWO new sets of pots this year... I'm in heaven!

Once in a while they will ask if they can make dinner to surprise me... and I love that too...

You bring up a good point... why can't a Domme and her sub cook together???

If you both enjoy it, it's a way to spend quality time together... ~shrugs~

We do this all the time.

At first we didn't because I had control issues about MY KITCHEN. I had to trust Fox before I'd let him mess with the space I created meals in because, no food = death. Plus my father didn't cook more than one or two things like fried eggs and pancakes and can't cook much though he is capable of following directions (to the freaking letter).

But cooking isn't just technical its also creative and I needed to know that someone else's cooking creativity was enough like my own to trust yet different enough to be a treat.

Dollbecky -> RE: Cooking- Submissives or Your job? (6/21/2006 9:17:28 PM)

Cooking is a domm y thing to me ...now being a kitchen bitch and cleaning thats sub work :P

lunamor -> RE: Cooking- Submissives or Your job? (6/22/2006 2:55:50 AM)

If the dom likes to cook, the sub can still be VERY active and useful at mealtimes!

- He should have already learned to do the grocery shopping (especially how to choose the best fresh vegetables and meat)
- He can do the boring preparatory work (peeling potatoes, washing and drying lettuce, chopping onions, mincing garlic, etc)
- He can (learn to) set a pretty table for EVERY meal by:
- providing a fresh tablecloth and napkins (which he has already carefully laundered and ironed)
- guaranteeing sparkling cutlery, plates and glasses (read:NO water spots!)
- decorating the table with some simple flowers in a small, attractive vase
- placing an attractive unscented candle on the table
- arranging for some pleasant music to accompany the meal

- He can of course also clean up the kitchen

I once had a slave who was scandalized that I would actually get in the kitchen and cook.If a Domme wants to cook then it is something she chooses to do and make no mistake, there is nothing submissive about it! I also get in the mood to scrub and clean and if my sub/slave is slow and it's just too painful to watch him mess up-I will do many other things  myself and assign him some other task that he is more capable of carrying out. In the meantime I note the areas that he needs training in and proceed accordingly-I'm not always in the mood to lift a finger so he had better learn. If a sub loves to cook, then he will get his turn when I don't feel like it.

Rosa,

Some of the best cooks (chefs) I've met have all been men. If he's a good cook, then by all means enjoy!

My wife and I are both Dominants and we both love to cook. I am a retired professional chef and I teach others to cook. To me cooking is an art that is not a chore at all. I am currently working on my 5th cookbook, which will be about southwestern cuisine and ranch cooking. Our submissives enjoy eating at our house and look forward to our parties where they get to eat and serve different foods. The best part of it all for me is that they clean up the mess !!

RosaB -> RE: Cooking- Submissives or Your job? (6/22/2006 8:04:54 AM)

See there you have it, one person's chore is another persons passion.  For some sex is a chore.  Its all relative to the individual.

Hell no.  If I let subbie cook, he'd burn water.  I like to eat things other than burned water, therefore I cook.  He cleans up.

I do All cooking and cleaning in the house. I love to cook and I love cooking pleasing meals for others and mostly I am the most organized one so having anyone else clean and organize would be just wrong. But I also find that as I get older I become more particular about how things are cleaned and put away and he could care less as long as it's not him doing it.

This is a bit like but but I use my organization ability and learned managment skills so that I can say "do this" or "today its time for this". That was both a trust issue in my case and getting aware of what was really important to me. I think it was mostly a trust issue to be honest.
