IF I feel like cooking I do, if I don't, why, then I don't. It is very simple, I do what I want.
In the fall and winter I tend to go into cooking mode and do alot of roasts, soups and baking.
In the summer I eat alot of food that does not require any real cooking, salads, fruit, cottage cheese, I do love to grill and NO ONE else is allowed to mess with my meat! I detest overcooked dried out meat.
I do not like to do clean up, I delegate that.

While I enjoy cooking, I tend not to do it, especially with my current partner. She cooks, and I clean up. This is mainly due to the fact that every time I cook I tend to get totally carried away and a simple pasta turns into a 3 course meal.

I don't think that cooking in itself is submissive or Dominant, like a lot of things it just depends on how it is done. Now ironing, there is a task for the sub and a hard limit for both me and my partner. *shudders*

I happen to adore cooking since I was a professional for many years so not too many people can rival Me in the kitchen that I know except maybe for My Family.....being Italian you can imagine...if the slave likes to cook I will let him do his best and will adore him for it... but when I want to I will and that is that.....oh by the way to that sub that thought it was the sub's job...it is if I say it is.....

Respectfully,

This is going to be an interesting post, since i wanted to reply here and now i see that i should reply to the post made by the One who has me under consideration.

The daily routine of breaking bread has connotations of connection and intimacy for me, and even more so in the preparation. i love to cook, whether by myself or with my Other. Something i enjoy. After a few meals, it becomes a well choreographed dance in the kitchen, fixing something scrumptious. Ever seen the tavern scene in "Tom Jones"? Albert Finney & Diane Cilento. Usually, i'm like You and go for basic 'comfort' things, but once or twice a week i like to get serious about cuisine. i make an excellent vichysoisse and onion soup. i have a monastery cookbook dedicated to soups alone. i want to try making the beer soup one day. my first, and only so far, dinner party was leg of lamb, wild rice & mushrooms, steamed zucchini & tomatoes, arugula salad, and pear mousse for dessert. Accompanied by one of my favorite wines, a Ridge Zinfandel. All done by moi, alone. And i got lucky with my first attempt at gravy, it was perfect. i thought the lamb a bit overdone, but no one agreed. Was it 'don't offend the cook?'

i always try to find out Her favorite dishes, and it won't be any different with You. To prepare them for special occasions. i also like to cook for social gatherings. Maybe one day i'll be running the kitchen for Teas.

Saturday mornings are one time that i like to be "given my head" and allowed to do the total pampering breakfast in bed thing. Fixing whatever She wants and served up with flowers and all the rest. Followed by just spoiling Her rotten. <G>

i had some trouble with finding my writing voice in this post, speaking to Her and to the thread. Hope She approves.

Cooking is a creative process for Me, not a submissive chore.  I like to clean up dishes and cooking 'detritus' as I go along so that it doesn't become a huge chore at the end of a meal.

Doing the dishes, however, is a chore.  Not a 'submissive chore' but it certainly is a boring chore.  I'd much rather have a sub load the dishwasher and wash pots and pans, but he'd better be particular about his methods and pay attention to detail.

Finding a submissive sous chef who enjoys grilling and entertaining with Me, who loves to buddy up in the kitchen and share ideas and techniques is one of My fondest dreams.  Who knows? Maybe he'll turn up tomorrow.

I love to cook.  Of course, I love to cook even more with a slave available to help me do preparatory work (chop onions, mix things, fetch utensils, etc.) and make the salad (my least favorite part), LOL.  I hate cooking breakfast, though (boooring), and slave would always be in charge of that :)

I don't think any type of job, task, chore, whatever you'd like to call it, can be decided as a sub job or a dom job any more than it can be decided it's a female job or a male job.

If the dom likes to cook, the sub can still be VERY active and useful at mealtimes!

- He should have already learned to do the grocery shopping (especially how to choose the best fresh vegetables and meat)
- He can do the boring preparatory work (peeling potatoes, washing and drying lettuce, chopping onions, mincing garlic, etc)
- He can (learn to) set a pretty table for EVERY meal by:
- providing a fresh tablecloth and napkins (which he has already carefully laundered and ironed)
- guaranteeing sparkling cutlery, plates and glasses (read:NO water spots!)
- decorating the table with some simple flowers in a small, attractive vase
- placing an attractive unscented candle on the table
- arranging for some pleasant music to accompany the meal

- He can of course also clean up the kitchen

What a great answer! Thank you!

I second this!
