Lady Pact--stuffed mushrooms? Love them. But honestly, if you stuff garlic, bread crumbs and olive oil in a newspaper, I'd try to eat that too!

I love stuffed mushrooms mmmm. I don't use garlic though, maybe I should try. I use breadcrumbs, sharp cheddar, the stems from the mushrooms, and sour cream. One of these days I'm going to add crab just for the fun of it and now maybe some garlic!!

Stuff them with bacon also and immerse the paper in the bacon grease, and I'll join you.

This all sounds good.

One very positive thing that can be said around this place. People *always* have awesome food ideas!

I usually stuff My mushrooms with crabmeat, but sometimes I stuff them with lobster and garlic butter.

PeonforHer--Can dogs have placebo effect?? I have never, ever thought of that.
Now it's gonna bug me until I find out.

It hadn't occurred to me, either - but, of course, why would a dog have developed any belief about pills? Though, possibly, some of a dog's owners excitement about a treatment could somehow 'transfer' to the dog, I suppose.

The dog-owner in question bought the leeches on the net, then simply found herself a vet willing to perform the treatment. It wasn't even all that expensive, as far as I recall.

And painless. The leeches inject some kind of local anaesthetic. The dog didn't complain at all.

Leeches. I think I'd be more inclined to cook and eat them than to put them on me, but if it would suck sagging skin, I'd bathe in them <grin>.

I know I've recommended this site before but www.tastespotting.com is the place for food porn. I only let myself check it once a week because I can easily spend an hour drooling...

Does anyone have any good (cheap!) marketing ideas?

I have a cleaning service, and also cook, run errands...like Alice on the Brady Bunch, minus the sleeping over part. It's definitely time to find more customers, but marketing isn't really my strong suit.

People here are so creative that somebody must have some ideas. And don't forget--cheap!

Nothing's cheaper than getting referrals from people who are already customers.
They have friends who may need your services. ASK them to recommend you to others.
Sometimes that's enough to remind them when they hear a friend mention, "If only I could find someone who does X".
Word of mouth is priceless.

Advertise in the City Paper. Make up flyers and deliver door to door, hang up cards at a grocery store, incentives such as current customers get 10% for each referral, craigslist.
