I just loaded my Kindle Fire with several books to take on the plane with me to Detroit tomorrow. I love not having to worry with anything but my purse as my Kindle fits right in there. Suitcase is packed with everything warm I could find. I didn't think I would like the Kindle .. you know a "books" kind of girl, but I really do love the convenience of it and it's easy to read.

Make sure you pack a few lighter clothes as well. Just because there is snow on the ground today doesn't mean it won't be warm tomorrow. This is Michigan after all.

Well...it came in today! I was hanging around the front door, waiting for the mailman to pull into the drive. The seller shipped it Priority, so it took a couple of days.

I already downloaded 28 books, all free except for Jane Austen which was 99 cents because it was her complete works. Dracula, Frankenstein, Iliad...all classics. Gotta love public domain.

I will start getting the Gor books next month.

I even got a cute red cover with it.

Also, there are Kindle forums that list the free books when they come up available. Some times some really good books come up. And makes sure you check out the Kindle 100 Free Best Sellers.

Books on the Knob is a blog that is a good resource for
information about free and cheap ebooks. They find all
sorts of books, fiction and nonfiction, different genres,
bundle deals, discounts, etc. I've found some gems through
them. Also Project Gutenberg has only free books from
public domain titles. They have classics and writers like
Agatha Christie, Robert E Howard and Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Also there are epubs like Carina Press that only do ebooks
that are good resources for erotica as well as other genres.

I don't see ereaders as a replacement for traditional books.
I still buy traditional books and I don't see them going anywhere
soon. Ereaders are great for traveling and toting around and
they have a variety of uses. I've downloaded books on my
computer and phone to read and it wasn't a great experience.
You don't get eye strain with readers and they are light and
easy to hold so you can lay in bed and read them like you would
a traditional book.
