I have done this with dirty dishes, dirty clothes, trash not picked up, etc. In the bed. With the covers over it. It only had to happen twice I think.
My sister has 5 boys, she goes around at the end of the day and picks up whatever is out of place, keeps it, and hands it back over to the child for a fee. If anything is unclaimed in a certain amount of time, she donates it to Goodwill.
