Does anyone have any tricks or rules of thumb for identifying "real" people on collarme as opposed to stock photos of models that lead back to spammers and links to porn websites?

If they're on the boards here, talk to them, get to know them a bit. I'm a profile perv, and I've never gotten sucked into a hidden link or anything like you seem to be suggesting. *waves at Q*

Well, does their photo look like a stock photo or something they took themselves or had a friend take? Does their profile say anything? The more in-depth the profile, the less likely it is associated with a spammer.

I like to put a specific word at the end of my profile (which I admit I got from reading the forums and someone else mentioning they did that). It says to mention that word - my profile is very long so a lot of people miss it - but if your's isn't too bad try that. It helps point out the folks that are just crusing pix and searching just by names

I am not a model. my butt is too big hahahaha [:D] You just have to think about what you are seeing and reading. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. There are lots of us real, normal wg people on here. You just have to scrape off the nasty fluffy icing to find us.

When you do, CollarMe gets a small amount of dough -- but small amounts from 1000s of clicks = a fairly good amount. This is a recent addition to CM, you probably note. I'm torn -- I hate spam and ads, yet I understand the need to fund this site as those of us who use it don't pay a dime for it. E.

Naw, just avoid the ads, se me. Use the site's search mechanism to find real folks. Or hang out here on the boards.

i deliberately haven't put a photo on my profile, coz i just wanna talk to people who wanna talk to me, as opposed to people who just go on looks. And like akisha, i'm no model, but i'm no moose either, and i'm happily collared, and the last thing i want is for "Doms" just trying it on. Hope this helps. luv, shiv. xx

Mine is the real profile. I'm sure many are stealing my photo to lure others to them. No I am not really a model, hard to believe I know. Don't be fooled by those using my photo. [:)]heeeheeeheeeee!!!!!!!!

For just chatting it doesn't matter. An interesting conversation is all that is looked for and if they are fake, so long as it is an interesting fake persona they are using it makes no odds. For my search, when looking for the real thing, I stick to people I can actualy meet and move to meeting in RL, even if just for coffee somewhere SSC, ASAP! Harder to fool my gut instinct face to face.
