ORIGINAL: Moloch I am not trying to be an asshole. Moloch, It's funny how sometimes the deliverer of a message of truth is labeled harshly in direct proportion to the truth conveyed. The reality is 100% of all weight loss pills, programs, or diets ALL have the same "fine print"; "Results NOT typical", and my personal favorite, "Results will be achieved when combined with a sensible diet and exercise." I'll tell you what, if you do regular exercise and eat "sensibly", you can eat of capsule of air and achieve th same results as the newest fad panacea "hoodia". Even those math challenged can appreciate this formula: Calories eaten - calories burned = calories stored (If negative calories lost) On the right side of the equation (calories stored is defined as FAT) There are some physiological nuances to that equation and time/lifestyle does come into play. At some point muscle, weighing more, replaces fat. You won't loss weight but you'll lose inches. A scale with a fat monitor is best to track that issue. Another interesting fact is that the body works on an independent logic system. Because of that, fasting only increases the storage of fat. This was a hard lesson for me because it made more sense to me to stop eating 100%. The reality is, fasting causes the body's logic to prepare for the next famine. How does it do that? By storing fat longer by burning fat stored calories last during exercise. So the best weight loss/exercise program includes eating 5 meals a day or every 3 hours or so. Eating protein or low fat, to let the body know that no famine is going on. Unless you have a "House TV Show" type pituitary tumor, that formula is the only diet advise or diet plan needed. The rest is fluff, and marketing. If you need some metal benchmarking, get on any of the new treadmills. Any gym will give you a one-day pass to try to sell you. Use if for this test. Put in the necessary personal information and then monitor the calories burned. It's not 100% accurate but for reference, it works. Walk 20 minutes and see the calories burned. Then go to the local convenience store and buy a candy bar, compare the numbers. Next time you buy a candy bar or any item consider how much "work" is was to "refund" the calories in that candy bar. When I needed to lose a lot of weight I turned every food label out to show the calories per serving. It was a great mental reference.
