Trunks sound cool, but there are potential problems with them. First and foremost, if you're gonna do it, make damn sure you don't have a leaky exhaust. Carbon monoxide can be a major buzzkill. Second, what happens if you get rear-ended? Try explaining THAT one away, sparky. Going back to the CO issue, most sedans have very good seals around the hatch and even with the air exchange available from the rear seats, it can get very stuffy inside. Vans are a much better choice, because there's more air in inside, most already have dedicated hardpoints to use any way your perverted heart desires, and if something happens, the greater mass of the vehicle coupled with the increased interior room means your "cargo" (if properly restrained) has a much better chance of having a funny story to tell years from now rather than a sad epitaph. Plus, if you wish, there's a lot of room for "other" pleasures on the way to your playspace. If you must use a trunk, I would imagine a good way to test its safety would be to get a CO monitor inside and operate the car normally. If it goes off while you're driving, that's a definite no-go. Idling would probably be where the biggest danger would be, but a leaky exhaust could be a fatal proposition. The safest way I imagine would be to have the rear seat folded down so you could visually examine your captive during the scene.
