http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/10/us/rate-of-gun-ownership-is-down-survey-shows.html?smid=tw-share&_r=2&

"The share of American households with guns has declined over the past four decades, a national survey shows, with some of the most surprising drops in the South and the Western mountain states, where guns are deeply embedded in the culture. "

Hmmm. I might be able to believe this. I suspect that the number of guns per gun owner has risen.

The drivers for owning household decline include fewer veterans, and shrinking rural population.

I can believe it. We' had a growing population from immigration and cities have grown in population as well. What hasn't grown in population is the rural areas of this country. Different populaces have different priorities, and the urban city dwellers seem to have to deal with a lot of expenses and taxes, not to mention that many cities have onerous anti-gun policies to discourage gun ownership.

Frankly as a gun owner I'm gladdened by this. As crime and gun ownership in this country shrinks, the legislation to further destroy the Bill of Rights has less and less legitimacy. Granted I look at the population of gun owners versus non-gun owners. I've seen little that isn't expendable from what non-gun owners have to offer as far as people and contributions so I rarely value the opinions of those who decry gun ownership. I rarely see non-gun owners in positions of note or ownership of companies. In fact many of the doctors, lawyers, and business owners that I know own guns.

Anti-American sentiment, beliefs, and policies have been growing in this country for quite some time. Many of those who share in the before mentioned are anti-gun. And for them to go unarmed, I again am gladdened. On any given day I would say sixty percent of the American population is made up of cowards and would-be slaves (and not the kinky kind no matter how much they wish to ensure the security and survival or rapists, murderers, and other criminals), I wonder how many of them go unarmed, the more the better I say should there ever be a settling of accounts.

So I am gladdened by this news, go my liberals, my lefties, Anti-Americans, do not buy guns, go unarmed, please, for if there ever is a reckoning, there will be a need for food and slaves, best you make it easiest on us who go armed to take of you what we want and need.

Excellent.

TM, do you play the banjo, by any chance?

I didn't know they had banjos in the Dark Ages.

Whether one owns a gun or not is not terribly relevant. Whether one supports the right to bear arms is the question they should be asking. Whether these people are registered and active voters is another very relevant question. It's much like smoking pot. There are plenty of people who have no interest in the stuff that support its legalization. That survey - other than generating raw data - is essentially meaningless as it relates to the gun control debate going on in our country.

Do I play the banjo, no. But for a considerable period of my life I played the Bassoon and Saxophone till I realized guitar got me more pussy. Still from time to time I'll pull out my Bassoon and play from sheet music as it is a lovely sounding instrument in my opinion.

Hmm Dark Ages, please explain that one. There were no guns during the Dark Ages but certainly lots of slaves and serfs who were seemingly content to go unarmed and happily be victimized by either brigands or their own leaders, oh just got it the unarmed are the serfs and slaves and they crave victimization today.

Oh and Owner59 if you ever wish for me to "poke" you, I can assure you will scream quite loud for me. Like a pig, just have to have fun with it.

No squealing here.. I made an exceptionally valid point - one you apparently have no response for. 99% percent of your posts are drivel intended to do little more than push buttons. Countering them with logic, reason and intelligence - while a supreme waste of time - is akin to shooting fish in a barrel.

In all honesty, I don't think you're being very fair to fish.
