I live in the Midwest. Salt of the earth, fairly common sense church going type people around here. Gay marriage is legal here......and that's not likely to change. That's pretty fucking cool.

I've always believed that legally, gay couples should be afforded every right and equality (and downfall) that straight folks get when it comes to marriage. What I don't get, is gay couples who want to be married under the rules of a religion that is hostile towards homosexuality. It's their choice, of course, but it does seem contradictory. Then again, I admit to having an early rooted bias; I grew up in a house with a minister for a father, and "interpretive Christianity" feels less true to the precepts laid out - whether they are right or wrong, they are what they are.

We have a nutcase legislature that thinks they can pass laws that makes it illegal to introduce legislation against their positions... I'm serious... They are passing a bill to make it illegal to give license information to the federal government because they are afraid they will give it to the UN... Feel for me… I really do believe dcnovice is absolutely right in his views when it comes to them and gay marriage… Just not right about the majority. Butch

Honestly, I do believe the over all majority is cool with it now. I also believe that the situation is only going to continue to improve as time passes, and dumb old mother fuckers die.
