Oppressive Beliefs Predict Breast Size Preferences

British White men from the community in London, England (N = 361) viewed figures of women that rotated in 360° and varied in breast size along five levels. They then rated the figure that they found most physically attractive and also completed measures assessing their sexist attitudes and tendency to objectify women. Results showed that medium breasts were rated most frequent as attractive (32.7 %), followed by large (24.4 %) and very large (19.1 %) breasts. Further analyses showed that men’s preferences for larger female breasts were significantly associated with a greater tendency to be benevolently sexist, to objectify women, and to be hostile towards women.

Does it seem from your experience that big-breasted women attract more sexist men?

As someone who has fairly big breasts for my frame, I can't say that I have.

I've certainly had men be hostile towards me but those instances were, on reflection, specific to those particular situations and not necessarily about hostility towards *all* women, or even about hostility towards me as a woman. They've all been about the men in question having an issue with my line of work. Many people show fear as anger and aggression... and many people are fearful of uniformed-types with needles, regardless of sex.

C'est la vie!

Absolutely yes! Doesn't bother me though.

-edited to add benevolently sexist, not hostile, men.

Well, you didn't give this option but from My personal experience being SMALL-breasted usually REPELLS sexist men...and I'm fine with that. In fact I consider it an ADVANTAGE.
I do notice that men I've known who date large-breasted women do tend to be extremely STUPID, very often bigotted about many things including women, yet call themselves "intelligent"....so I'd have to say My answer to your question is YES, it does seem that way.

What horse excrement is THIS?

NOWHERE does it state that the women were identical except for their breast size. In other words, their entire figures were likely fuller, and the researchers chose to assume that breast size was the ONLY independent variable. It's obvious that waist size, hip size, and face fullness would have varied as well, while the researchers were fixated on boobs.

Also, that "greater tendency to be benevolently sexist, to objectify women, and to be hostile towards women" is extremely subjective, and I'd be suspicious of means to measure it.

All in all, pure crap passed off as research.

I take it you like big tits.

That said, I do see your point. And maybe the variance was due to the degree to which the women were zaftig. But then, I haven't seen the pictures and neither have you. If the images showed women whose builds were closely similar except for the size of their breasts, then your rant is bullshit. And since neither of us knows, it seems a bit touchy to fly off the handle on what is purely an assumption.

Based on the wording of the abstract – "figures of women" rather than "photographs of women" – and the fact the figures could be rotated 360º, I assumed they were computer-generated images where variables could be controlled. I don't have access to the full paper, but a quick search for press coverage easily confirmed this. From The Atlantic:

quote:

Not real women; 3D computer renderings. The men were allowed to rotate them 360 degrees. The only difference among the women was breast size.

Link to a larger image of the figures in question.

So, yeah, that part of the rant is without basis.

I agree with Kirata. This is all theory based on a completely unfounded premise. I'm unimpressed.

Oh yeah! Now THIS part I absolutely agree with. And I must admit, the fact that this part exists makes me doubt any other possible part of the study. This actually sounds like the prelude to some feminist rant to me.

I have to admit, the title of the paper while "on point" sounds like pretty straight-forward male-bashing too.

One last point. I used to like smaller breasts. Then I fell in love with Carol who's got bigger breasts. Now I like bigger breasts. Have I suddenly become more oppressive as a result of loving Carol?

They all look like they belong on a mortician's table for an autopsy.     I know some people are into the necrophilia thing, but I'm like YUCK on all of them.

EDIT:   Oh yeah.....If they consider No. 5 to be extra large breasts then my Miss must be OMG size!!!!!

Errr... yeah... I second the motion that the "size 5" displayed isn't quite what I'd call "large". Particularly not these days, when it's been shown that the average bra size in the UK has leapt from a 34B in 2010, to a 34DD in 2012.

so women that get breast implants are wanting to attract sexist hostile men???

Men will do things they think they can get away with (take the Ohio rape case, for instance.. athletes that felt they could get away with doing nasty things to an underage girl that was either passed out or drugged)... men cat call at young women cuz they think the young women are naive, inexperienced at handling harassment, and lack any power to stop them.. Breasts get females noticed (imo, unfortunately).. when I was about 13 I developed mine, before then no one bothered me, after the grown woman boobs arrived men would stare at me and i could tell by the look on their faces they were not thinking pristine pure thoughts.. that shite started when I was a child of 13 years.. sorta disgusting, dont ya think?

I'd intuitively expect that there would be a tendency for cruder sorts of men to require more obvious, and less subtle, 'indicators of femininity' in a woman. More and heavier make up, more skin showing . . . and bigger breasts.

But that is NOT the same as saying that every man who's attracted to women with larger breasts - or women who habitually show a lot of skin and go out made-up a lot - are of the cruder sort. I spent all night, once, explaining this point to a very heavily-breasted female friend who was turning down men right, left and centre because each had made the heinous mistake of complimenting her on her chest at some point - thus making them look instantly like 'crude men' in her eyes. Sad, and a great shame.

Let's just be clear on this....titties are a wonderful thing.

More is good...less is also good...titties...fabulous stuff. Titties are wonderful.

There are no titties that are small or large that don't fit into the "I LOOOOVE them things" as to men.

So....big, small, medium...titties are wonderful.

More is better. (As in...surrounded by...)

You know... now that I think on it...

There I was -- a perfectly normal vanilla guy who's outlook towards women was pretty much "sensitive caring man of the 90's". Then I married Carol (she of the big boobs). 15 years later I'm calling her property and making her obey me. So perhaps there is something to this whole theory?

Well, in fairness, if someone walked up to her and said something like, "Phoarh! Nice tits!" as has been known to happen, then I wouldn't blame her for thinking them "crude". If, however, someone presented the compliment in a reasonable fashion, then I'd agree with your point. Unfortunately, there are quite a few men who don't take the time to run their thoughts past the brains on their shoulders, therefore resulting in an abundance of the aforementioned kind of comment.

Man, I wonder what sort of "men" you hang around with to have that life experience. I just asked Carol if any stranger has ever just walked up to her and said "Woah! Nice Tits". At the age of 58 her answer was "never" -- nor anything like that. She has 32-D breasts so not titanically huge but D cups on a 32 inch frame is non-trivial. At one step removed she thinks she might have had a friend back in college who mentioned such things happening to her but she's not certain.

She mentions that maybe in high school this happened but I'm assuming we are not discussing the antics of kids here.
