Under the Constitution, eligibility for holding the office of the president requires the candidate to be a "natural-born" citizen. So being born on foreign soil, with a mother who is a US citizen now makes you a citizen. Seems they made the choice not to have him born here, perhaps they had no health care in the USA and just wanted to use the health care system in Canada.


Huh, strange how someone not born in the USA can be a "citizen by birth" according to the right, but this rule of thought does not work if you are on the other side of the aisle.

1, Unlike the left media, who ignored Obama's circumstance of citizenship, we're three years out of 2016 and the right is already vetting potential candidates.

2, Sounds like Cruz is just as eligible as our great President, Mr Obama, and our lovable VP, Mr Biden.

3, It would be really ironic and hypocritical for the same people who dismissed birthers and the lunatic fringe, to join the same fringe now the the potential candidate is in the opposition party.

It has more to do with the BS of the right than anything..... What they claim is correct for the GOP does not apply to the years of birther BS they have screamed about when it was about our President.

You know like when Mittens in his speech said that at least he was born in this country, completely denying the facts of the whole thing or all the hours Fox, Beck and all the other loudmouths kept bringing it up

If both parents are U.S. citizens, at least one resided in the U.S. before the child’s birth.
If one parent is a U.S. citizen, the U.S. citizen parent must have resided in the U.S. for 10 years, at least 5 of which were after age 14.
Same rules apply to both gentlemen.

To be a natural born citizen, both parents must be citizens. If both parents are citizens and the child is born abroad, at least one of the citizen parents must have have previously resided in the United States or its territories.

Of course, there's always the claim that Obama's real father was Frank Marshall Davis. [:)]

There was some question as to the legality of his parent's marriage.

One was they could find no record due to interracial marriages being illegal in most places at that time. The second being a question of his father already being married.
