I have seen people on these boards claim that the second amendment only meant muskets, and all guns that were developed after flintlocks are not really covered. Here is a list of rights assumed under the constitution involving technologies that did not exist when it was written, if you take the logic presented in the first statement, which will you be willing to give up?

Of all of those the most benign I think is text messages. Very few consequences. Yet, losing any of those would be unsettling. However, you are missing something. You have neither the right to fly or drive as it is. You can buy a car, but you must have a license drive it. Same with a plane. As a passenger, you need the permission of the owner to fly or ride. You have to pass tests and pay fees, therefore you do not have a right to a drivers license

I don't think I'd be willing to give up any of these rights, although being male, I doubt that I'd ever exercise my right to have an abortion. As for the right to drive a car, I've always heard people say that "driving is a privilege, not a right." I don't know if that's the Constitutionally correct position, but that seems to be the general sentiment as I've heard it.

Actually, the State grants the privilege to drive a car providing you are of a certain age (or older), pass both a written and a practical test, as well as get licensed and insured if you plan on driving on the State's roads.

(As is the whole "no guns besides muskets are covered by the second" thing, which is probably the point. The whole standing army being essential thing seems more of a constitutional objection to somebody keeping a tank in their drive, after all...)

Travel by car or air is not a right, it is a privilege not guaranteed under the constitution.

The gun is sort of addressed in the second amendment of the constitution - NONE of the rest listed are a right - nope - we do not have any guarantees on any of those.

That's actually debatable: if it was constitutionally protected under the first, then everybody would have to have access. (Mind you, that goes for the whole "free speech" thing in general: speech is rarely free, and can often prove ridiculously expensive.)

Recent consideration such as France vs Twitter - France has hate speech requirements. If you say something that qualifies as hate speech like, I think all red head men with opinions about right should get kicked in the balls, they can censor and redact your statement; and they will. The internet is a global community that is mostly free but our constitution does not really govern it. please do not get me wrong - i would like all those listed to be rights - but seriously sure they are not.

Twitter is a portal and you must agree to its terms of service... hence, they can censor you. If you put up your own website and host it yourself in the US. You can say whatever foul shit you want. Look up any number racist groups on the web.....
