Alright, there may have been some doubt about the cooking of his wife.

Just a few things. He recanted the claim about killing his and eating her. Secondly her remains have never been found so it is diffculty to say murder, evidence must show how the victim died. He was convicted of second degree, 15 life means he must serve 15 years before being considered for parole, if you think he get out after 15 I doubt it.Mason and his followers have been eligable for parole for some time now, in fact Manson was just turned down again for the 12th time.

Actually, my point was not the sentence, but the lack of evidence that got him convicted. As you said no body, no physical evidence etc, should have raised reasonable doubt with the jury.
The sad thing is, if he were convicted here in Texas, he would have probably got the death penalty.
I mean, if he had eaten her, there would have been bones left, so what did he do with them, and considering the stuff I read about his mental state, I doubt if he was thinking clearly enough to actually do a good job of hiding what parts he did not eat.
And the recanted confession.

When I was little my uncle got into some trouble then figured punching the cop would help and he ended up with a five year prison sentence at Joliet state pen. Right before he went in the prison had an inmate disappear. They did not think he would escape since he was due to be released in a week. After an investigation they found out some other inmates killed him then to hide his body they put him through the meat grinder and everyone had him for dinner My uncle was very well behaved during his stint in the pokey after hearing that, he wanted out asap... lol

So a cop can't even take care of business without calling the cops? :) I think a little bare knuckle fisticuffs is enough of a conflict resolution in most cases without having to clutter up the faulty legal system...
