Definitly an allergic reaction.  Having hypoallergenic skin myself, I am confined only to gold (shucks).[sm=rolleyes.gif]

Everytime I have worn the collar my neck began swelling around the Collar...

The Collar is a chrome metal one.

Any Suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank YOU in advance for YOUR time  and wisdom

Hi ray,

"Chrome steel" is a category of stainless steel which employs a relatively high proportion of chromium in its alloy. Other than iron (roughly 80%), it will contain (roughly) 17% chromium, 2.5% nickel and 0.15% carbon. It may also contain fractional quantities of molybdenum, vanadium, niobium (formerly known as columbium).

It is quite possibly the nickel content in your collar that is causing you dermatological issues (much as mentioned in my previous post to desertdancer). Although the 2.5% nickel content might not seem significant against the 14.5% nickel content of a piece of gold jewellery, consider that the contact surface area of the collar against the skin is considerably higher than the contact surface area of an ear stud or wedding ring.

Hope this helps.

I just got logged back on. The wireless service that I use (SIRRICOM which is available at Truckstops) has been crashing a lot lately. Just wanted to thank everyone for their information. I am most greatful.
I didn't consider an allergy as i wear a watch with no trouble and have worn rings with no trouble (except when working on a car.lol). My Mistress is in agreement with the allergy concept though. WE tried using a leather linner but that didn't work. Whereever my skin toutched the metal it started swelling so that must be it. She has decided to go with a leather one.  Learn and live but live well.
Thanks To Everyone.

It could be several things. An allergy to the metal or possibly an allergy to something that was used to clean or polish the collar. But i know that i have some problems with certain metals.
