Simply owning lots of guns doesn't make you a dangerous person, I know this because I've dealt with criminals who never used a gun to harm someone. If the concept of private ownership escapes you then there is no way for us to have any kind of discussion. I don't know why people need more than two dogs but I see people with more than two dogs. I don't know why families need more than two cars but there are those who own more than two cars. Also hunting is not covered in the Second Amendment, if anything you could better outlaw hunting before private firearm ownership, in a legitimate American government. So you keep asking pointless questions about private ownership, gunnies are used to it, we'll keep ignoring you.

Common sense people. Nancy was in the process of having Adam commited, it takes alot of paperwork. Adam being 20 years old is by law considered to be an adult. Further, Adam being an adult she would have to go to family court and prove Adam is not able to care for himself, further she would also have convince the judge she can be his conservator or have the judge appoint one, Nance then would have to pay conservator. If you thinking of what is called 5150 there is a need to show the person is unable to care for themselves, or a danger themselves and/or others, that would mean Adam would either have to have a gun to his head at the time of the 5150 or as he did at Sandy Hook. I tried to have someone 5150 due to the fact that they were not able to care for themselves and needed medical treatment, never happened, the person died.

Nancy was also attempting to have Adam commited, for what reasons I am not sure, but if Adam was exhibiting violent behavior, Nancy should have not kept the guns out for Adam to take. It is reported that Adam play violent video games and had an interest in mass murders, especially Anders Behring Breivik, however nothing I have read would indicate prior violent behavior by Adam.

Some on this thread think the arsenal was not part of the problem. Such a bias cannot be overcome, but right now it's this fringe bias that controls congress. A home arsenal can't pass any kind of rational basis test. Also, you are absolutely right about how difficult it is to commit someone to a psychiatric institution. There is also some evidence that Nancy bought a rifle for Adam, if she was trying to have him committed, what is she doing buying him a weapon? Does not sound like very wise decision.

I am going to have to back track myself a little, I found out that Nancy did have a gun safe, it was in her bed room where she was killed, opened, now that is really and I mean really stupid. You have a person in your house, you claim they are out of control, violent, you leave guns out and not lock them up when you have the means to? I am not trying to fix blame on Nancy, but you have to admit she was irresponsible.

For self defence alone the best gun to carry is not the best gun for self defense. A shotgun, two handguns, and a light easy to use rifle. That is not "all those guns" if she had had 40 or so that would be different. Do you need a car that can go 90? That isn't legal anywhere and it is dagerous to drive that fast both to you and to others. Do you want to give upyour car? Does not wanting to mean you worship your car? Would you think that anyone who said you did was a crackpot. Owning firearms is a right. There is no need to justify exersizing a right. A car is a previlege you might have to justify that.

LOL ..you are making an incorrect assumption that I own a vehicle.. I actually don't.. As far as what has been reported, she lived in a small safe idylic town and did not buy the guns for self-defense or for hunting quail or gophers or moose, so those arguements fail.. and she didnt need 40 guns.. 3 of her guns killing 26 people/children in 5 minutes did the job quite efficiently..
