I haven't even given real names of my supervisor or the program director. Joe and Patty are names I made up.

Lovely, but you still discuss specific cases and in-house issues on a public website. I think these threads may very well come back to bite you in the ass (and not in a fun way).

Let's see, considering she hasn't named a single client, and she is anonymous here, good luck with the whole HIPAA concept. And "shut the hell up" is not verbal abuse unless it is used with a great deal of regularity.

LL?
erie, you have a tough job, but I think you can do it if
you just stay out of your own way.
I hope everything works out for you erie, hang in there.

Expert on HIPAA? I have seen healthcare workers go down the tubes for less. It happens.

Call your state DOH and ask them if "Shut the hell up" said just once gets a pass.

Your OPINION means little in the reality of it all.

She is an anonymous name on this website, so what she says about anonymous clients are meaningless. If the clients aren't named, which they aren't, no violation.

"Shut the hell up" has nothing to do with HIPAA. Now if she were a nurse working in a hospital, saying that to a patient might be grounds for firing, although more likely there would be other disciplinary action and a report put in her file. However, given the nature of her work, and the type of clients that she has, and that this is something that is in the past, she obviously has not been fired for it.

Sometimes a bit of common sense goes a long way. Of course, having a little bit more knowledge about the OP would also be helpful. With 5 whole posts, you obviously haven't had the opportunity to gain that knowledge.

You can discuss specific cases, and even include photographs, as long as there is no identifying information.

There is not.

Okay, you watch my post count and notify me when I can discuss things.

You win!

Put on your big girl panties. The point is that you obviously, based on your post are unaware of the OP's ongoing situation, and therefore, your comments are not relevant to her situation.

Also, you apparently know little about HIPAA, since as Lynn said above are irrelevant when there is no identifying information.

But, please, feel free to continue with your two year old temper tantrum. Perhaps you are going to hold your breath while you wait?

Well we know where she's from, we know the name of the program that employs her, we know her job title, and we even know her supervisor's first name. No client names yet, but still a lot more than I'd like to have to explain to somebody.

You don't know my supervisor's first name, as I made it up.

And btw, I'm home early today and yesterday because on Wednesday morning when we had the training, Patty overheard Joe and myself talking about me leaving early that evening. She cut in and told us that since the training was occurring before my regular scheduled shift that I wouldn't be paid for being there. Joe had to go to the head of staff development to have that issue straightened out but in the meantime I was forced to put in a 12 hour day on Wednesday. I flexed the extra hours yesterday and today plus took 2 hours of vacation time today.

Patty called a mandatory training where everybody present worked 8 am - 4 pm except myself. My schedule is 1 pm - 9 pm so she thought she could get away with not paying me for being at the training. Joe is once again on Patty's shit list, but he said he had to protect his employee. And yes, I was flipping out the other day about it. And yes, I use forum to vent my frustrations about work.

Do you think a doctor goes home and doesn't discuss a case with his wife, without mentioning any names? Not a HIPAA violation. What part of "not identifying the client" is unclear to you?

I'm sure there is some kind of employee manual that spells out whether you are paid for training or not. In any case, your supervisor got that taken care of.

Oh, we're paid for trainings, all right. Even the online trainings, if we take them at home, we can flex hours. I've been there nearly 5 years and this is the first time its happened. In fact, when I was offered the job, I worked for a week and I went to a conference in Philly and was paid for being there. I was already planning on going when I interviewed for the job, so when they hired me, they just decided to have me start the week before the conference and count the week as a training. They certainly didn't have to do that.

What part of posting stuff on the internet is NOT like talking privately with your wife is unclear to YOU?

Would you like to bet that anyone vindictive enough to be so inclined, or who becomes so inclined at some time in the future, couldn't send this thread to somebody who would know what to do with it, given all the information she has put online about her location, the agency, and her job title? Do you think it would further her career to have her supervisor and herself called into his boss's office to explain why some idiot employee is running her mouth on the internet about internal matters and calling her supervisor's boss a CUNT?

Long chance? Yeah probably. Smart move? Not so much.

K.

You seem to think that being found on this site is fairly easy. For those who post their photos and such, sure. But for those who don't, not so much.

As for furthering her career, considering the field she is in, and her lack of education in that area, I would say she has gone as far as she is going to.
