She is an anonymous name on this website, so what she says about anonymous clients are meaningless. If the clients aren't named, which they aren't, no violation. "Shut the hell up" has nothing to do with HIPAA. Now if she were a nurse working in a hospital, saying that to a patient might be grounds for firing, although more likely there would be other disciplinary action and a report put in her file. However, given the nature of her work, and the type of clients that she has, and that this is something that is in the past, she obviously has not been fired for it. Sometimes a bit of common sense goes a long way. Of course, having a little bit more knowledge about the OP would also be helpful. With 5 whole posts, you obviously haven't had the opportunity to gain that knowledge.
