jlf1961 -> Anyone know about breast reduction surgery? (4/3/2013 9:33:45 PM)

I have a friend who is a young woman of 26, and she is considering a breast reduction procedure.

She is a G cup, and weights about 125.

Unfortunately, the only information she can find on the internet seems to be about the scars the procedure leaves behind, is this normal?

Wouldn't she be better served talking to a plastic surgeon about this?

I suggested it, but, I quote "I can get the same information from the Internet."

However, I just got off the phone with her and she has made an appointment for a consultation for friday.

I have been "volunteered" to accompany her to the appointment.

I would still like input from people on this procedure, if anyone has had any experience. I knew a girl in North Carolina who had the procedure to go from a double k to D cup and scarring was minimal. As a side note, her boyfriend and the father of her twins, left her because she had the reduction.

A girlfriend of mine looked into it aout 10 years back. The plastic surgeon showed her some pics of women who'd done it. The scars were pretty bad. Maybe techniques have improved.

no they have not the scars are just as bad now as they were 10 years ago i know someone who just did it about 2.5 months ago.

The women I know who had breast reduction were not concerned about scars.  Basically their backs hurt so bad that anything was worth getting rid of all that weight and pain.

Her reasons are for back pain and the simple fact she is tired of having to either were mens 4 or 5xl tshirts or going to Dallas Fort Worth to find clothes that fit.

The ladies I know have loved life after reduction surgery.  Their backs don't hurt.  They can buy normal clothes, and they can buy a normal bra in a normal store instead of having to go to specialy stores and pay a fortune.

On the internet you can get massive amounts of information, but that should never replace talking to an actual doctor.

As for the scarring, the surgeon should be able to show pictures of his work, and a good plastic surgeon will leave her with minimal scarring. Sadly, too many people don't shop around for a plastic surgeon, or any doctor for that matter, the way they should. Yes, they are professionals, but they are still being paid, ultimately, by the patient, so the patient has the right to be comfortable with them.

As for the girl in North Carolina....she probably didn't make a good choice of guys to father her child, huh?

I'd like to see real G cups. For scientific purposes of course. Research - you know.

It used to be. Back in the stone age. She needs to talk to a real person about this. Someone good at it.

Whoa, that's... lame.

What Esinn said. It's important.

I don't have any hard information but every woman I've ever talked to has said they wished they'd done it sooner and it was the best thing they've ever done for themselves. One woman said she lost sensation in her nipples, however that would have been a long time ago and hopefully that doesn't happen anymore...? Have your friend add that to her question list to ask if there will be any changes anticipated in that area so she's prepared.

This.

The scars are definitely not fun, but I imagine the benefits would outweigh the negatives.

I imagine she gets a lot of rude stares or comments too. I'd personally rather deal with the scars than have people oogle my body like it's something bizarre.

mnottertail -> RE: Anyone know about breast reduction surgery? (4/4/2013 8:32:16 AM)

The cuts are made under your breasts and follow the natural curve and bulge.  it is not a very elastic area, and the scars should be nearly invisible.

Hell, most women have stretch marks more visible than that.

DesFIP -> RE: Anyone know about breast reduction surgery? (4/4/2013 8:38:39 AM)

If the nipples must be moved, sensation will be lost and it is not a guarantee that she will be able to breast feed.

Scarring depends on the person, some scar worse than others.

I've never known any woman who had this done to regret it. But there can be unforeseen psychological changes as well. If you used to hunch over and hide from people to avoid being stared at, and then start flirting aggressively, it will impact your existing relationship. Which could be why the guy left the mother of his twins. We don't have enough info to lay blame.

Jeff. I'm pretty sure that either lucifyre or impy had this done last year. contact them.

Spiritedsub2 -> RE: Anyone know about breast reduction surgery? (4/4/2013 9:41:39 AM)

Littlewonder posted on the forums about having had this done. She said she lost sensation in some areas permanently but was very happy she had the surgery. Maybe ask her about it.
