I was a WSI as well. Yes, they do teach you that. You are taught to survive first and rescue someone else second. Face it. If you're dead or incapacitated, you're not going to do much good rescuing a victim anyway. A lot of lifeguards are HS kids, not professional soldiers or first responders. Minmum wage doesn't pay you to die
One of my instructors was a big nasty SOB who was about 6'5. I'm 5'7 on a good day but he didn't know my wrestling background. When he decided to make my life tough in the water on the final exam, I hurt him pretty badly. Unfortunately, most lifegurds aren't exactly physical specimens. I think thats why he decided to make an 'example' out of me to scare the others. It didnt work though.

I gave you a quote from the manual and relevant keywords on modern search and rescue training. Not in a kiddie pool either. The best thing you can do. Hang up your bathing suit. And shut your mouth about letting other people die because you are a pussy or trained improperly.

1. Even though I never worked as a lifeguard, trained a lot of them and performed 2 rescues. One of those was a missing diver a quarter mile offshore in a storm that I had reason to believe was already dead from a shark encounter (chunks of red meat had washed in with the surf).

2. If you have a problem, bitch at the Red Cross they're the ones who make the rules.

3. As for your childish name calling, you can lie in your unmade bed, smoke another doob, get a few more tats and quote your "training manual" from your Gears of War game or whatever you've got on X Box all day long.

Target apologizes for label on plus-size dress

Some Target shoppers say a label that listed the color of a plus-size dress as "manatee gray" was insulting. The label for the same dress in smaller sizes described it as "dark heather gray." The color switch-a-roo was noticed by online shopper Susan Clemens, who promptly captured images of the color titles and tweeted it at Target...

Spokeswoman Jessica Deede called the labeling of the Massimo-brand "Women's Plus-Size Kimono Maxi Dress" ''an unintentional oversight... Manatee gray is actually a seasonal color that is used across product categories on Target.com, from apparel items to home items. This was an unintentional oversight," she said. "We will take this opportunity to learn."

Deede explained that the varying color labels for the plus and regular-sized items occurred because of a communication error between two teams working with the dress. "There were two teams working on uploading products to Target.com and there was a discrepancy," she said.

The report doesn't say whether the complaints came from self-righteous twiggies who think plus-size women look like manatees and would perceive the color label as an insult, or whether they came from plus-size customers who think "Big is Beautiful" only applies to them. In either case, my pity is with the poor insulted manatees.

Manatees actually aren't fat. They only have 2 layers under the skin totalling about 3 cm. The rest is muscle, assorted viscera and a really damn long intestine.
