hmm, so 31,328 deaths from fire arm deaths in 2010, make ken a liar about 26,000+ in 2011 how?
How many of those suicides were AFTER killing another human being?

Hmm, so you think he could be right and not just making shit up... because 2011 isn't 2010, eh?

Well here's the thing. The CDC's release of its final mortality data for 2011 isn't finished yet. It ain't there. Nada. Zip. Only preliminary data has been released. But hey, let's go with that. Give the guy a fair chance, right?

Cause                     2010      2011
----------------------------------------
Accidental discharge       606       851
Intentional (suicide)    19392     19766
Assault (homicide)       11078     11101
Undetermined intent        252       222

How's his 26,000+ number for 2011 looking now? Any better? Happy?

K.

Unh, the subject was the wild inaccuracy of the number Ken made up, and your suspicion that I was faulting him unfairly. Can you remember that far back? I was expressing my hope that you would be happy to see your concerns addressed about poor Ken being mistreated, not fucking happy that 6,000 more people died. Get yourself a smaller horse.

If there's even the slightest chance that it might, it's going to stay there for as long as it takes!

If you believe in that logic, diss your weaponry for a hammer. According to you, there's no difference. Problem solved!

Well, I believe (subject to correction by those of greater intelligence) that the poster is a parody, comparing the banning of certain rifles (pictured) with the banning a certain type of blunt object (also pictured) on the basis of the danger that such classes of objects (rifles and blunt instruments) pose to life.

Perhaps I would see things differently if my head was big enough to look down on the situation from up in the clouds. But as it's not, I'm unable to see why you would think the poster suggests that anyone should abandon their firearm for a hammer. Perhaps you would be kind enough to spell that out for us.

And how many gun deaths a year are caused by people who legally owned the gun in question?

Many thousands

Does that number include suicides? What is your source?

The fact that 26+ thousand people died from being shot in 2011. unless you are claiming 80% or more of gun shot deaths, including suicides, are from illegal firearms, which is patent nonsense.

I asked you if you were including suicides in the number of gun deaths caused by legally owned guns, and I asked you for your source. Do you have a problem answering those questions? Or are you just making shit up again? It seems a reasonable question in light of your "26+ thousand" number, which is wildly wrong. For example, the CDC reports the following numbers for deaths by firearms in 2010:

Accidental discharge       606
Intentional (suicide)    19392
Assault (homicide)       11078
Undetermined intent        252

Source

Furthermore, it's not clear to me why you would want to include suicides in your numbers, unless it's your view that saving the lives of people who want to die is worth the cost of denying an effective means of protection to people who don't. Do you have any actual statistics showing the percentage of homicides committed by owners of legally possessed guns?

Take your time.

K.

Actually I just used the figures given upthread. If you have to whine and call someone a liar you need to take it up with Tazzy and the FBI.

I never called you a liar, and you know it. What I said was:

When someone is lying, they know they're lying. See above.

When people just make shit up, or repeat something someone else said, they don't have a clue whether it's true or not. Are you going to whine about being called a "lair" every time someone questions your shit? If you recall, this started here:

Subject to correction, I don't think MstSebastian was talking about suicides. Do you have any actual data on the number of homicides committed by people who legally owned the firearm in question?

And as it's clear now that you were including suicides, is it your view that saving the lives of people who want to die is worth the cost of denying an effective means of protection to people who don't?

That question may sound familiar. I asked it before. Do you suppose there's any remote chance that you could stop your faux whinging about people calling you a "liar" long enough to answer it?

K.

It's not a question of whether I like it or not, or whether you like it or not. It's a quesiton of whether or not it's right. And until you post the source for your data, if you even have one, you're just making an empty claim and stamping your feet.

How many people legally owned the gun they used to commit suicide? How many took advantage of their knowledge of where a family member or friend kept a gun in order to obtain the weapon? How many used an illegally obtained gun?

And while we're at it, what exactly is the problem? Why do anti-gun nuts keep trotting this out with righteous weeping and gnashing of teeth? Don't people have a right to end their lives if they want to? Is it anybody's fucking business? I know religious conservatives think it's a "sin," but what's your excuse?

On the one hand people argue that someone who wants to die should have the right to do so, while on the other hand they can't seem to stand the idea of anybody having a private, fast, and easy way to do it. I mean seriously, do you have to have your nose in everything?

K.

Dear parents of school aged murder victims,

We going to make the stupid hammer/gun analogy yet again because we really can`t respond like adults to your tragedy....

Suck it up and deal.

Regards,

The nra

Ps....expect us to bring up the stupidity again after the next massacre.
