This link is actually to my Facebook post, but I posted the same thing on a different site for kinky folk (Yes, you know the one) and got significant flak for attacking the faith and the individual. Even though I don't practice anything, I certainly didn't intend it as an attack. So did I go too far or did I just run afoul of a few hypersensitive people?

A bit of unsolicited advice...

First, I wouldn't put a Link to your Facebook page. I now know your full name and could easily find out more about you, like where you live.

Second, the post isn't visible; apparently because a person needs to be your friend to view your posts (good move there, though).

ETA: My bad on the second tip. I couldn't see the post because I'm not logged in to my FB account. But hopefully you have your account set up to be at least moderately private.

Well, here's what I wrote:

I was out with friends last night and had a thought after several people wished me Happy Easter. The major part of Easter celebrates the fact that someone was verbally degraded, spit on, whipped, beaten, mounted on a cross, stripped, and a lot more. So doesn't that just make Easter the world's biggest S&M party?

Yeah, that one is going to make a very few people (like myself) snicker, and piss off a whole lot more.

While I gave a smirk, the problem is that Easter isn't about that at all.

I'm a Christain, and while I agree that that's not what Easter is about at all, part of humor is sometimes stretching things to get to the funny. I laughed. Do you want me to prostlesyze to you now? (I don't really believe in Prostlysizing. Some saint said, 'Prostlysize without ceasing. When absolutely necessary, use words'. That's how I try to do it)

It's funny. People who'd take offense to that need to get the stick out of their ass.

Here's what I tell all my friends who would be offended by something like that:

Have you ever read the Bible?

Genesis?

We're made in God's image?

Then, God must have a sense of humor. You, obviously don't so I suggest you spend more time worrying about how fragile your faith is than being offended by someone behaving as they're meant to.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

quite amusing tho i doubt the dying for the sins of mankind bit fits yr s&m hypothesis.

Perhaps not the smartest thing you can say in certain demographics, but certainly not the worst, either. I'd have laughed.

Next time, lead with the finding of where Easter eggs come from...

Along those lines: Happy Easter from Cyanide and Happiness.

It made me chuckle....though Easter actually celebrates the resurrection...which is why the Zombie thing on another thread made me chuckle.

I think it;s sweet when Christians think God can't take a joke....but they must not think much of Him if they think a little quip is going to topple Him

Sometimes I wish Exodus had had the commandment "Thou shalt lighten up."

OP, Steven's link was far more crude... and still funny as heck.

Some people are just oversensitive about everything these days.
