ORIGINAL: LafayetteLady The reality is that if you "simply must have that gun right now" you are up to no good. So if someone's ex husband just got out of jail and called her to say she has 24 hours to get her affairs in order, she is up to no good? Well, she's planning on possibly needing to shoot someone. But more interesting would be why her ex husband has her phone number, knows where she lives, etc. since your implication is in was in jail for a violent act against her. And I guess notifying the police of this is something you would find useless, even though he was incarcerated for his actions, right? BTW, given your suggestion situation, I would bet she went and got a gun earlier anyway. ETA: and her rushing to get one out of fear DOES make it dangerous for her to have one due to a phone call. Before you figure something else out, your suggestion implies a female victim of domestic violence without experience using a gun. Do you honestly think that her running out to get one is a good thing? Where did I say he was in jail for a violent act against her? FFS, it's only one sentence. There are dozens of reasons someone might wish to kill another person upon release. As for restraining orders, I hope you're aware they're not worth the paper they're witten on when it comes to saving lives. Police response? Gimme a freaking break. I once had a bullet come thru my front window in miami. I killed the inside lights, hit the outside spots loaded up and called 911. FORTY-FIVE MINUTES LATER, someone shows up that isn't even fucking armed. I was going to show her the bullet hole and she freaked out and refused to go near because there was a spider web. Yeah, that'll protect me.[8|]
