Brad's new CD has already come out, and this song wasn't one of the singles selected to chart... you can't even get it on his Vevo channel (and not because of the controversy).

The controversy theory might pay out if it weren't for the fact that he could pick up the phone and call Oprah, Ellen, Leno, etc. and be featured *without* writing a controversial song, because he's currently quite marketable.

It's when the numbers drop that (some) artists get 'edgy'.

It is called PUBLICITY. Brad has a new CD coming out. LL Cool J is a TV Star nowadays. Days of newspapers & blogs talking about it. SUCCESSFUL Publicity Campaign. As cynical as that, that is what is all about,

I definitely didn't believe it was a publicity stunt, but I don't tend to go straight to the cynical explantion, without some evidence of such.

I love Run DMC, and Aerosmith. Have seen Aerosmith live, and they were awsome. Gratuituously, I just listened to John Cougar Melencamp's Hurts So Good, and can never get enough of that song. It always makes me want to get up and dance. M

I don't think for one minute that "The Accidental Racist" collaboration will be hit.
I wanted to make the point that the color lines/racial divides have been crossed many times, and have created MANY successful hit records.

I think musicians do better when they don't "try" to make a point. If you look at history, music has always been ahead of the curve with regards to breaking down racial barriers. I've been doing research for some writing, and have read about the musicians in New Orleans during the early 1800's, blacks and whites sharing a variety of music coming together. Then thinking of the jazz and blues musicians and bands who crossed racial lines waaaay before laws and desegregation. I am not sure the arts need to manufacture progress.....it seems artificial. That being said, it seems that these men were sincere in their intentions...and maybe we should be applauding sincere intentions a little more and wigging out about the imperfections a little less.

Just the concept of mixing rap and country, they deserve some credit for. Those two styles don't typically mesh.

Sounds like one of the levels of Hell, to me. It's from Dante, right?
