Oside, I only created this post out of genuine curiosity; I have no intention of setting up a wish list. I've just seen so many and was wondering how dommes who have one deal with this.

Your curiosity is admirable ... but i suspect .. most haven't felt the repercussions .. yet.

Western Union is getting sued ... there is a class action settlement in process.

Those lawyers will likely be moving after Amazon ... Pay Pal etc .. once they get all they can from Western Union.

And every time they win ... the IRS is there ... waiting to tax the Fin Dom recipients who thought they were making free money. Most can't afford the back taxes, interest and penalties ...

Then too, there is a lot to be said about character. But that we can discuss another time.

FYI ...

From IRS Website ... the definition of a Taxable Gift ...

What is considered a gift?
Any transfer to an individual, either directly or indirectly, where full consideration (measured in money or money's worth) is not received in return.

With the way Amazon is set up, someone purchasing directly from an Amazon shipper will not be shown the person-receiving's address. However, Amazon does state that when ordering from a 3rd party shipper (as most of Amazon is, note) there is the potential for the purchaser to be shown the receiver's address.

Yeah, leave it to a government agency to have rules so vague they can apply them to anyone anytime they want...

...meanwhile, please excuse me while I try to total up the value of every birthday gift I've been given throughout my life lol!

I just think if someone is purchasing you a gift to get your attention, they deserve your attention which to me means they at least get to know a name.

I don't. If someone says, "Here's my wish list - buy me something just because," they don't owe anything to the fools who buy them something.

If I ever manage to bring myself to setting up an account as a 20 year old Findomme, I definitely would NOT want people who buy me gifts to know my real identity.

ROFL .... the IRS will want to know ... and don't be surprised when they track em down ... either.

That stuff can be taxable income ... and we all know, the government must have its share.

If someone just puts up a gift list and people sent gifts without a promise of reciprocity, the gifts probably wouldn't be taxable.

Depends on where you host your wish list.

Example, on amazon if you get it straight from amazon they don't disclose your mailing address.
I have wish lists on other sites as well and none of them disclose my address.

Oside, I have had random strangers purchase me gifts off my wishlist. Example, last week I received DVC tapes. Which are used on my camera when I do videos. I have NO idea who purchased them off my wish list. People can / do know my name if they ask for it they don't need to know my mailing address for that. However, the resolution to that is to get a PO Box.
