I think "modern fame" often has the potential for issues, but many of the people you are thinking of in Hollywood and the entertainment industry were usually very poorly supervised or totally controlled by the studio to disastrous results (Judy Garland). Since you mentioned Tiger Woods as an example of how things should be done, I am guessing you forgot that his fame came much, much earlier (age 2)
