I don't understand how you can have an argument over the accuracy of a work of fiction, every version is just a reworking of tales,yarns, campfire stories and plain old lies

You haven't explained anything. All you've done is claim that it's full of "propaganda," without specifying what you're talking about, and that it fails modern standards of scholarship, without saying how. A reasonable person might begin to wonder whether or not you actually have a clue what you're talking about.
