ORIGINAL: vanillaimpaired I doubt they would give a shit. Easiest option is to block the person or don't even bother replying. I get more troll messages on here than Fet. Fetlife is not geared as a dating site. it's pretty much how they describe it, a kinky facebook. Join groups that interest you, join in on discussions and talk to people that have similar interests. There is a good amount of people that go on Fetlife for networking, events, social get togethers, munches and the likes. It really comes down to what you expect out of a site and what you want. Yup . . . I think that sums up the management attitude at Fet . . . they don't give a shit. It has all the finesse of a porndog yahoo group nowadays. Ya' know, at one time yahoo was cool. Sincere leather groups sprung up online there. But like anything that gathers a following, as soon as it catches on, the vultures swoop in to capitalize on it. Because of a lack of management, Yahoo is intolerable now... it's like AFF on steroids and stuffed to the brim with so many scammers, it isn't worth the time to explore. It is the lack of management that lets membership run amok forming cliques which in turn subdivides the appeal. Then the scammers step in. Soon you lose what attracted everyone in the first place. CollarMe policies are designed to stop that and moderators try their best to enforce it. Just look at how CM tries to protect the constant flow of newcommers, rules are clearly posted, warnings in the email about scams and report buttons everywhere. Report a post, a photo or an email with ease. That is a good example of self governed moderation . . . membership has the ability to call management to make a judgement call almost anywhere around here and CM is better place for it. That is the reason I am so negative about all the hookers posing as Findoms and posting bullshit threads on CollarMe forums to boost up their business. It's a clearly defined cycle and you can tell when rent is due around here . . . the Findoms make their monthly posts about "What size strap on is best for sissies" or "should his buttplug be red or black" and other bullshit fake topics like that. Hey, I have nothing against hookers and I build webs for the adult industry . . . I just hate someone so cheap they try to scam business off a free service site. If you make money advertizing on CollarMe, you should pay for the adverts. I hate being spammed by faker's adverts disguised as threads as much as I hate being spammed with fake email. It's fucking annoying. But the fake Findom overpopulation is about the only gripe I have about CM and I can usually spot those threads by their titles. If you are old enough, you may remember that at one time bondage.com was actually nice. Many sincere people hung out and posted there. Now it is a dead dinosaur, a lonely place with no traffic or content. I predict the same for FetLife if they do not take an interest in moderating the scammers and diffusing the cliques. The self appointed newbees posing as experienced that start and control their own BDSM groups is a load of horseshit. A newbee can't tell if the group leader is a horny housewife or a snert. And the group leader has the power to kick anyone with experience or delete what has been said. It is not free speech over there . . . it is open season for posers to start groups. There isn't even a post count meter, as worthless as they are . . . it is something. How is a newbee supposed to glom anything of value at FetLife? I mean the social networking software has appeal if you truly care that Jane liked Dick's picture or you want to jump in on an old school friend's thread to post mutual admirations and pat each other on the back. Personally, I don't give a shit, so I choke on the pollution over there faster than many of you will. I don't need you to like me, I don't want to join your clique or have you join mine and my friends and I already know what we think of each other. I have seen your threads, you old school dogs that have posts/groups on FetLife . . . you never see me post in them. What am I supposed to say, "yup you're right"? You got enough people patting you on the back already. You don't need my hand back there too, nor do I need yours. Pretend a website is like a real life social meeting over dinner. Take a bunch of old leather fucks like me and stick us at a table . . . we don't have much to say about leather that we don't already know. Sure there will be a good story or two but for 90% of the conversation we are more likely to talk about the food. Now take the same group and mix us in with a bunch of newbees at a meet & greet munch. Now there are tons of questions and lots of stories. So these BDSM forum systems are mostly for the benefit of newcomers . . . sure the old school guys will exchange an idea or two, but most of it is for the 200,000 new members every month here at CollarMe that just read these forums and don't post on them. If management at FetLife "doesn't give a shit", the scammers will overrun the place and newbees will stop coming. Eventually like bondage.com, it will go though the growth and death cycle of a web site due to lack of management. If it died tomorrow, I wouldn't miss it. It doesn't do anything that FaceBook doesn't. Why not use FaceBook instead, it's better software and better management? So here we are on page 3 at CollarMe and I still can't find a fucking report spam email button in the email framework at FetLife. Thanks guys, glad to know it wasn't my oversight and that I am not the only one that gets the feeling . . . "they just don't give a shit" over there.
