A great day here where it began. Always remember people died so you could have a 40 hour work week and days off.

Yeah, when I was a younger lad, my old man used to tell us kids (as we were watching the Eyewitness evening news) that that was militaries, all over the world, celebrating his birthday.

I believe this is also the pagan day of Belthane, if I remember correctly, with the maypole and all that:)

That would be the gaelic festival. It is held halfway between the spring equinox and the summer solstice which is April 30 or May 1 most years.

Maypoles are a germanic thing not gaelic.
