I'd suggest you both read "Screw the Roses, Send Me the Thorns" instead of 50 Shades. I also recommend The Ethical Slut, because it talks about "different kinds of relationships" but that may be a bit further down the road.

As far as her developing more comfort with it all, I'd highly recommend you really dig deep into what you know about her and think about what appeals to her as a human being. What made me turn the corner was when someone explained what a Daddy Dom was. As soon as I knew that there was a way to be kinky AND be nurtured (as well as being nurturing back toward a partner), I was IN. It's just a matter of showing her that it's a broad range of interests that are malleable and optional, rather than presenting her with a limited number of choices that she may reject. That might help you as well, in the sense that you can explore the Lifestyle together, and find other areas of common ground.
