Hi there, I've noticed (because I'm not a total idiot) that there are a lot of strong personalities on this forum and these strong personalities like to make sure their points have got across. It also seems there aren't many trolls on this forum mostly, I think, due to the nature of the discussion and the watchfulness of the mods. I do think, however, that if a troll did shuffle out from under its bridge and drags its knuckles over to the forumy side of things it'd get the reactions it wants pretty easily. Just call some dominant people stupid or use crude, uninformed language then rage about it whilst claiming to be subby and they'd be fed for as long as they can be bothered to poke. So what I'm interested in discussing is: does the vocal nature of the strong personalities on CM mean that starving off a troll would be harder than it would be on a more general-topic forum? I think this is sufficiently off-topic to belong here... I hope Louise

Think of it this way. Tossing a troll into the CM forums is akin to tossing a crippled mouse into a roomful of cats. We gotta have something to play with..................................and kill. Then we place it carefully on VAA's doorstep.......or in her shoe.

See now, that was exactly what I thought but there's a pretty good example of trolling going on in the Ask A Mistress subforum and they seem to be taking the cretin seriously and he really seems to be enjoying it. EDIT: I wonder what this guy would look like stuffed into a shoe...

Ah, well in that case it is completely my missing the point ^_^ On the previous forums I've visited, they tend to recommend starving the trolls, but I can see that flaying them alive might also be effective.

Some (most) of us will try to give a person a fair shake. More often than not, more than one. Even when they have displayed trollish behavior on prior threads. Not all trolls show their complete ass in the course of a day. Sometimes, you have to wait for their posting history to show them for who they really are. In the case that you are referencing, I don't know if dude was so much of a troll as opposed to somebody who has a legitimate interest and is just so socially inept that he doesn't know how to conduct himself as adult. It's hard to say. We do get the random troll, of a number of varieties. Numbers tend to go up during summer (school vacation) and various holidays. It is sad, in a way, that a person can't deal with their own existence and the only option they have is to attempt to get a reaction from others. I always hope they learn to be better people.

I seldom think someone is a "troll" and I don't believe I've ever used the word to refer to someone that way. I've witnessed far too often someone being called a troll simply because their opinion differs from the majority and they don't back down on that. The name means nothing to me.
